With not drinking beer / wine / all our usual favourite drinks, I think probably a yummy glass or what you fancy isn't a bad thing (I get the same with diet coke in the evenings!)

But then I'm probably not the healthiest person to ask (I've not eaten a single lentil since I found out I was pg!)

have you tried sparkling water? on its own or with a little 100% fruit juice? I really craved fizzy drinks in one pregnancy & i used to scoff this. guilt free!

You go for it - hope you enjoy it!!

(Maybe cans of lentils would make useful hand weights on those odd occasions when I decided a little light exercise is required to banish the ever sagging bingo-wings!!)

I am totally craving fizzy as well. I have 2 litres of fizzy water every day - with some sugar free squash mixed in. It keeps me sane! (and of course makes me want to pee all night, but that's another issue... )

Apple juice mixed with fizzy water is also very tasty - and looks a bit like beer so don't feel like I'm missing out (YUK - not that I could stomach a pint at the moment, and never thought I hear myself say that!)

That's becuase it's always "Pimms o'clock" !!

Maybe we could invent a non-alcoholic version, still with all the fruit in it, plus lemonade so you'll enjoy that bit!

I'm only in my 10th week, so got a whole non-alcoholic summer ahead!

But with the really hot weather recently, and the all-day (feel like I'm on a P&O ferry) morning-sickness, I must say the thought of alcohol turns my stomach. But I'm sure that will pass and by Christmas I will be really looking forward to a glass of fizz!

Wow just 3 weeks to go - you must be so excited!! Is it your first baby? Wishing you best of luck!!

Good luck with the home birth, home all goes well! Not sure that I could be brave enough to be so far from all the drugs (I have a very simple approach to pain management!) but I guess if you've already had one baby before you know what to epxect and are much better prepared than scaredy-cat-me!

This is our first, but we have already had a couple of scans. We live in Germany, and had a scan at 6 weeks, another at 8 weeks, and got a third planned for tomorrow = 10 weeks. It's true about German efficiency!

No idea how many scans we'll get in total, I presume that after 12 weeks it will be less often (can't continue with every fortnight, surely?!) Maybe every 6 weeks? I don't know what is normal here or in UK, still very new to all this!

My husband in not in the army, I don't think there are many operational British military bases here any more, not like previous years. It's a fantastic country to live in, we are very happy here.

Yes was born in 1978 - obviously a good year!

I would say it is true that people are very family orientated here in Munich (in the south of Germany), with lots of facilities for the whole family and very few places that you're not allowed to take children. And children use the facilities too, they cycle to the playground with their ping pong bats and play table tennis; no drunk intimidating teenagers, no graffitti, it's wonderful! I'm not sure if Munich is the same as the rest of the country though, I have heard it called "Germany's biggest village" as it is so safe and friendly. And my language skills aren't good enough to read the local papers so I'm sure they have their fair share of problems here too.

No idea how they feel about weight gain in pregnancy though - hopefully not too picky as I'm sure I'll be the size of an elephant by November!

I was born November 4th, so will be Scorpion mum and baby - hope we don't clash!

LucyK1978 · 18/04/2007 16:00

I meant Scorpio, not ScorpioN !!

(Although possibly closer to the truth with all these hormones at the moment!)
