22 weeks and fainting/dizzy spells

I'm 22+5 and I've just had my third episode of dizziness/feeling like I'm going to faint in the last week. It feels really scary at the time, everything starts to get black around my vision and almost like in slow motion. It usually goes away once I sit down.

Is this normal? Should I be on to the midwife/doctor?

Hello Grin

I'm sure it's nothing to worry about, but definately get on the phone just in case. I had dizziness with both of my children and all was well but they always wanted to check me out.You are never wasting anyone's time!

I’d maybe call the midwife or see your gp just so they can check your blood pressure, I’ve known a few people to faint due to their blood pressure, but take it easy and drink lots of fluid

I have suffered with dizziness from about 16 weeks until recently (23 weeks) and this has been attributed to low blood pressure. I naturally have low blood pressure and it lowers even more during this part of pregnancy due to increasing blood volume. Mine was mostly when laying down and closing my eyes. Talk to your midwife if you are concerned as it could be other things too. Lots of fluids and salty food is supposed to help. Might explain why I was craving salted popcorn for several weeks.

Thank you! I've booked an appointment for the gp so fingers crossed everything is ok xx

Sounds daft i know but it could be that your dehydrated! and hungry. That was my problem. or you are lacking something in your body

I was getting this it was down to blood pressure dropping. I was advised to try to drink 3 litres of water a day to keep blood moving well. Worth checking with your midwife though I'm case it's something else.
