Hi everyone

This is my first post here I'm hoping for some advice as I'm worried sick I have harmed my baby.

I found out I was pregnant at 10 weeks and have my first 12 week scan next week, so no alcohol or smoking when I found out! However I was going out each weekend partying and getting drunk, smoking cigs... plus drinking a few large glasses of wine each night after work. I've heard of foetal alcohol syndrome and am so worried I may have caused this...

Has anyone been in similar shoes and everything has worked out okay??

Thanks x

JoJo, don't offer your sage 'advice' to worried pregnant women if you haven't got a bloody clue what you're talking about.

Your links are hardly new news. You said, "there is a strong chance of things having gone wrong" which is scaremongering BS.

Hello

Thank you for the replies, yes I have not drank a drop of alcohol since having a positive test. I will try not to beat myself up, but it is hard!!

I've had a pretty awful year with my mental health and finding out I am pregnant is the best news so far, it has stopped the suicidal thoughts and I can finally see a happy positive future.

I'm looking forward to my scan next week. My family, husband and friends have been very supportive and I will continue with counselling.

I will post an update next week, fingers crossed!

Wishing you the absolute best for the scan and for your pregnancy, OP. Absolutely don't beat yourself up - you didn't know, and you'd have acted differently if you did, but that's not your fault. I really hope that all is well with your scan and I'm sure it will be, but if there are any worries remember that that doesn't mean it's because you did something wrong, or that it's connected to the drinking/smoking.
