Why do McDonald’s cheese burgers not make me sick??

That’s it really - I have horrendous evening sickness where literally from about 6pm anything I eat comes right back up. Yet McDonald’s cheeseburgers I’m absolutely fine! Why does my body want this crap!!

Anyone similar struggling and got any healthy alternatives that have not made them sick or should I just carry on eating burgers...

McDonald's was one of the only things I could keep down when I suffered HG during my pregnancy! I live rural but had several hospital appointments in the city throughout and would stop at McDs every time! I even got two mcmuffin meals a few times 😨😨😨

Titsywoo · 21/11/2017 21:57

The first 3 months I couldn't even look at a vegetable without feeling nauseous. I could only eat crap (crisps, pork pies etc). I think it's pretty common.

Loosemoose28 · 21/11/2017 22:02

Mcdonalds chips have been a small saviour for me too. I had a burger last weekend and went for a 5 mile dog walk after- I felt amazing. I am going to experiment as I have a lot of burgers minus the bread as meals anyway. I wonder if it is the gherkin and onion ketchuppy sauce I actually want- going to try and make some at home.
Sickness goes, headaches go argh but its so much crap to be eating lol

QuestionableMouse · 21/11/2017 22:05

Oh fuck off. McDonald's do not put anti vomiting stuff in their food... It's just food, probably not the best quality but just food.

You also can't get a double cheeseburger in a meal.

Hairgician · 21/11/2017 22:12

Yes you can surely get a double cheeseburger meal!!

And another one who found the wonder of MacDonalds when suffering with HG.
Fuck roll on Thurs when I can get one on way to do my volunteering!!😋😂

sparechange · 21/11/2017 22:18

Pretty much the only thing I could keep down until 14 weeks was potato waffles, and bacon sandwiches on cheap white bread
But even the thought of toast on its own made me vom

QuestionableMouse · 21/11/2017 22:20

No you can't get a double cheeseburger meal. I work for McDonald's. I know what we sell.

Thebookswereherfriends · 21/11/2017 22:25

Crisps and 7up for me. In the first 2 months I couldn't bear any veg, but ate 2 bags of crisps and a 7up every afternoon. I never drink fizzy drinks normally!

LiquoricePickle · 21/11/2017 22:28

I hate Mc Donald's, but the only things I could keep down were nuggets and cheeseburgers.

Haint · 21/11/2017 22:35

I had so many McMuffins on the way to work that the woman in the drive through recognized me and commented on my regular visits. The next time I was too ashamed to go and I threw up on my own foot in the work car park :( bad times

Loosemoose28 · 21/11/2017 22:43

@questionablemouse I wonder if OP meant ordering double cheese burger, chips and a drink.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 21/11/2017 22:47

I had Hyperemesis. Except with McDonalds fries and Schweppes lemonade. Sprite though or any other fries 🤮

Helena17 · 21/11/2017 23:30

I've never tried McDonald’s cheese burgers for a sub but as I'm already way past my sickness stage. I've also experienced the worst evening sickness a few months ago and I had to cut down on sweets and protein for dinners.

BigBaboonBum · 21/11/2017 23:57

Really not a fan of McDonald’s, and during one of the sickest weeks of this pregnancy so far I saw somebody eating a McDonald’s burger and had to have one... and fries. I ate them faster and with more passion than hasslehoff on steroids. I was a mess. It stayed down too, it was wonderful

Fakingit36 · 22/11/2017 02:00

I had a craving for Five Guys burger and fries last week that was so strong, I drove for 30 mins to satisfy it. It tasted orgasmic. Not normally a burger fan but my goodness.

Oysterbabe · 22/11/2017 07:48

I've had more burgers than is normal for me this pregnancy too, burger king cheeseburgers. There's just something very easily digestible about them.
Make the most of it, 36 weeks now and struggling to eat, there's too much baby in the way.

MegEmski · 22/11/2017 08:10

Yes McDonald's is my saviour too!

bettydraper31 · 22/11/2017 09:49

I've had a double cheeseburger meal several times.

The person at McDonalds just knows what you mean and puts fries and a drink with it.

Let's not split hairs here.

MrsJayy · 22/11/2017 09:55

With dd2 it was the mcchicken sandwich i couldn't keep anything down except that and fizzy lemonade. I know it is not the best but honestly whatever stays in is better than eating nothing.

ClaireBear1986 · 22/11/2017 11:17

So glad it's not just me, I think I could happily eat McDs for brekky, lunch and dinner (but obvs I don't)

I must admit I am having a cheeky McDs once a week as otherwise I just can't stop thinking about it.
I feel really bad for doing it, but I am eating really healthy throughout the week so think one McDs at the weekend to satisfy my cravings won't hurt.

I almost cried when they shut the McDs down in our High Street recently.

ijustwannadance · 22/11/2017 11:27

Why oh why did I read this thread...

I want a cheeseburger now Sad

I haven't felt sick for months now but maccies was great in first trimester.

shutitandtidyupgitface · 22/11/2017 11:30

Many years ago I was told that McDonalds and similar put anti-vomiting "stuff" in their sauces

And you actually believed such bullshit?

It's just food, fgs. It's a bread bun with a 100% (quality) beef burger, cheese and some pickle/onion/ketchup.

haveacupoftea · 22/11/2017 16:04

You're pregnant eat whatever you want. Bread, beef and cheese has lots of protein in which baby needs to develop.

HaHaHmm · 22/11/2017 17:58

What if you make your own cheeseburgers at home with steak mince and good quality cheese?

Or does it have to be bad stuff?

If OP were feeling well enough to stomach preparing burgers from scratch then she'd be able to stomach something other than McDonald's!
