I don’t really know what to do with myself at this point. I am 38+4 and for the past couple of days I have been having full days of BH which are then getting really painful at night, not labour contraction painful but enough to wake me up and stop me sleeping through them. I am up at least once an hour with them through the night and I struggle to get out of bed because all of the muscles around my belly and pelvis are so sore. Sunday my body decided to have a big clear out (sorry if TMI) and last night I could feel the contractions down below too. All of this has also come with back pain, which I normally have anyway, but this feels different.
I’ve not had a show that I’m aware of and waters haven’t gone, the contractions aren’t even regular or timeable.
I’ve had baths, drank water and lay down to try and stop them to no avail. The only thing that sort of pauses them is if I get up to move but as soon as I’m still again (sitting or standing) they start up again.

Sorry for long post but if anyone has any insight or advice I would be very grateful

Have you spoken to your midwife? 38+4 is not too early to be labour. What makes you think BH and not labour? Is this different to your other labours? I had BH a few nights before my waters broke (although mine were both at 36/37 weeks) so I took it as an early warning sign to give me a heads up to shave my legs! Good luck xxx

With my DD I just had back pain from the evening before until I was in full blown labour, I hadn’t even realised it was the start so definitely different this time. I’m thinking BH because they do slow/stop when I’m moving and they aren’t at all regular or anywhere close to as painful as labour contractions.
I spoke to my Midwife yesterday and she essentially just said ‘ooh fingers crossed’ so that was helpful!
I’m just at the end of my tether with the pain and lack of sleep (I know! But DD is nearly 7 so expected to be able to sleep until DS arrived- silly me!)
Thanks for the luck, I feel I need it. DD didn’t come until 42 weeks and there’s no way I can cope with this for another nearly 4 weeks! Xx

Ah okay, well it could still be labour as may be different/earlier this time! Do you want labour or for it to go away? If you want it maybe start the old wives tales, curry etc and see if that helps. My waters broke after I had runny egg - both times - it could be coincidence I know (but twice!!) If it is too early for you then I have no idea what you should do and hope someone else comes along with ideas! I think your midwife could maybe be a bit more "if it goes on for too long you have these options" Maybe phone her back and say you are in a lot of pain so what are your options as you will not be able to continue this for a month!

Oh I want it to happen! I did try the curry last night, went for a walk, did a lot of housework. I’m trying to keep active to help get things moving but I’m torn because I’m 99% sure I won’t be getting a good nights sleep tonight and I’m so exhausted from the last 2 nights! Spoken to Midwife again and she said it does sound like things could be starting to happen but to phone daycare for a second opinion...daycare aren’t answering the phone!
I think I’m destined to just deal with it and desperately hope he starts to make a move very soon!

Also the idea of runny egg is almost as awful at the moment as the idea of attempting to shave my legs! Grin
