Dermatitis - any solutions?

I've had dermatitis on my hands for 15 years but I'm pretty good at keeping it under control.
Since being pregnant (I'm now 18 weeks) its gotten much worse even though my skin isn't exposed to any of my usual triggers. I currently have excruciating itchiness and blisters on my palms.

I asked my pharmacist if there was anything else I could use to help and he said to wash my hands using barrier cream (which definitely isn't making any difference) and not to use any steroid creams. In desperation I am using a tiny amount of Eumovate Blush on the worst areas but as I'm only using a tiny bit per week, its only taking the edge off for a day and then its right back to being bad again.

Does anyone have any ideas??

I’m using some cream as well but in tiny amounts as it’s got corticoids I believe have use it like 5 times in 20w in small amount when it was unbearable . I asked my gp and she said no problem. I am trying to avoid using any handgels and use more antibacterial Gels.

It’s eeally annoying :(

My eczema has really flared up in pregnancy on my hands.

Barrier creams don’t work for me either- they just irritate the flare up more!

I’ve found that washing the areas as little as possible and only using cold water helps. At night the itching kept me awake so I started wearing cotton gloves on my hands and it’s certainly improved things, I get a better quality of sleep. Might be worth a try.

I developed dermatitis in pregnancy, hadn't had it before and haven't had it since but the only thing that worked for me was Aveeno moisturiser, cool oat baths and hydrocortisone cream. I suffered with it for a couple of months hardly slept at night, was back and forth at the doctors and tried lots of different creams and moisturisers and after using those 3 things it finally cleared up. Not sure which of the 3 or if it was a combination of all but it was such a relief hope you clear up soon. It was the skin specialist who prescribed me with hydrocortisone and she double checked with a midwife and I also phoned the maternity ward to double check with other midwives. Think it was 5% I was prescribed.

My midwife recommended aqueous cream with calamine. Unfortunately she said the most I can hope for is to ease the itching to tide me over until after the birth, at which point I can actually start treating my eczema with proper medication. The red patches are spreading like mad but it's just something I have to put up with until baby is out!

Thank you, I'll try out some of your suggestions. I'm willing to do anything at this point. I'm a massage therapist so you can imagine how awful it is trying to work with hands that hurt when they touch anything. The itching and lack of sleep is one thing but the blisters are causing me so much pain.

I've changed my barrier cream @Winenight I think you're right, my usual cream is causing me more irritation so I've now got an ointment instead which seems to be better. I'll definitely look out for some cotton gloves and give them a go!

@Boringnamechange1 I'll ask about hydrocortisone. I don't think its as strong as Eumovate so will definitely look in to it.
