First the severe debilitating morning sickness, then the truly excuciating sacro-iliac joint inflammation, then the slow irregular fetal heart beat diagnosis...so I was walking to relax a bit...well I didn't even get to the walk..

Got out of car and some hidden bramble branch in the grass (so no clumsy balance issue here) caught both my legs and I fell flat (no knees sheilding me) onto my bump - 25 weeks preg now.

Was rushed to hospital where they kept me in overnight - first time ever in hospital - but I can't keep worrying about the baby.

Has anybody else ever fallen and what was the outcome? Was your baby ok? Your placenta? You?

The hopistal were worred as have frontal placenta and stomach was hardnening - but had no blood loss so they they said could go home this morning after keeping me in.

Jusrt feel all of sudden that everything is going wrong...

Not me, but had a friend who fell down the stairs at 25/30 weeks and all was fine!

I don't have any experience but I really feel for you after reading your post and hope everything turns out well (I'm sure it will - my obstetrician always told me that the baby is so well cushioned inside the womb that it's very hard to hurt the baby).

thanks for message of support!

I just have visions of broken bones with the little one and my placenta ripping

but guess need to calm down and relax - but I just can't beleive my bad luck - hopefully dull aches are going to settle and simply bruises calming down

hence am curious to know how many folk have fallen and then what happened...

I fell at about 28 weeks. Didn't get a chance to get my hands in front of me and sort of fell on my side. Scared me witless but we were fine.

I also had the sacro-illiac thing when pg with ds2 so I can totally sympathise. It's so painful. I had to sleep downstairs for 7 weeks because I couldn't get up stairs. I was referred to the physio at the hospital and I got one of those pregnany brace support thingies.

Take it easy - try some gentle osteopathy, massage etc and rest when you can.

piglet - that happened to me exactly

because i was trapped and fall was unexpected i didn't get my hands out in time and landed flat down as if ready to a press up - hands by breats so to speak and def not cushioning my tummy blow

unlike you though i went flat face down - not sideways

i just hope i stil have enough amniotic fluid left for cushioning effetc at this stage

hospital seems not concenred at all re my dull aches and pains - simply becuase I am not bleeding

I fell straight onto my bump at 35 weeks. We were moving house and I tripped over a box. Looking back on it it must have looked rather humorous as I was marooned on my enormous belly with legs and arms not touching the floor. Didn't laugh at the time though. Ds was born 7 (grrr) weeks later, just fine.

Try shaking an egg in a jar of water. It doesn't smash. Your baby is well cushioned.

Take it easy.

i felt exactly like that - in shock like a turtle whose feet can't touch ground!

was shaking continuously afterwards
