Anyone else have this? I'm 34 weeks and honestly feel like I haven't breathed through my nose for the last few months as it's constantly blocked/running/snotty. So annoying! Sometimes it feels like a cold but sometimes it doesn't and it just never gets better. Allergies? I've never suffered from allergies before. It's worst at night time and in the morning. Is this normal and is there anything I can take for it??

I have a sinus infection that sounds similar. There's nothing you can really take, saline spray helps a little but it's driving me insane.

I've had a sinus infection before and the doctor gave me some kind of spray that sorted it out, try seeing your GP? I think it's quite common in pregnancy, something to do with the veins swelling and putting pressure on the sinus maybe?

Thanks, GP might be worth a try then. I just assumed it was a side effect of pregnancy and having a shit immune system so assumed they wouldn't be able to do anything!

It could be allergies. I had never had allergies before in my life before I got pregnant for the first time - it can trigger allergies apparently. Definitely worth seeing your doctor! There are antihistamines you can take which your GP can prescribe.

I could have written this post!

For over a month i cant breathe through my nose, tickly cough ans runny nose.
Had some nasal spray off Doctors but doesn't help. Cant have my flu jab because of it Sad

I had this while pregnant and it was so annoying, particularly when it disturbed my sleep. My pharmacist suggested a saline nasal spray which was actually helpful, once I got over the "ick" factor of squirting something up my nose. Completely non-medicated so no side effects, would it be a useful first step for you? Otherwise do ask your doctor or pharmacist what product you can safely take for relief.

Would keeping a detailed track of foods, and your environment etc help in seeing if there is an allergen trigger for it either?

I haven't had my flu jab for the same reason...never seem to be not unwell! I'll try the doc and keeping a log for possible allergies. Only 6 weeks to go and I'm hoping it will magically disappear once baby is out...

I had it when pregnant. Always felt like i was on the verge of a full blown cold that never came. It's not unusual in pregnancy apparently. I thinks it's to do with the blood vessels in your nose being more dilated with blood. Nose bleeds are also common.

koalab · 16/11/2017 20:23

It did magically disappear once baby was born for me. Heartburn also stopped the next day.

Koalab that's reassuring, thank you!

I had this in my last pregnancy and again this time. We sound at similar stages, I’m about 32 weeks. If you google it, there is something called pregnancy rhinitis which sounds like it may be the same thing. I’ve had it badly for about a fortnight and now it’s easing up a bit, thank goodness. It’s horrible! I can totally sympathise. I find doing a good old fashioned basin of steamy hot water before bed and sleeping with pillows, propped up a bit really helped. I don’t know if you get this too but due to breathing through my mouth my mouth gets mega dry at night and I end up waking over and over to drink water. Blurgh. It’s so annoying. Hope you feel better soon!!
