Stomach acid advice needed

Hannabee123 · 15/11/2017 11:05

Everything I eat and drink is bringing up Stomach acid. It's so unpleasant and makes me feel incredibly sick.
I've only had some water this morning with a tiny smidge of juice in for flavour and it's making me bring up acid into my throat.

I'm dreading eating anything. Has anyone got any relief tips or anything which worked for them?
(34 weeks and on countdown to get my body back!!)

Fruit juices will make is worse as it's acidic.
Try milk.

Get some gaviscon or antacid tablets like tums.

VanillaSugar · 15/11/2017 11:12

Cucumber and avocado wil neutralise the stomach acid. Avoid all sugars and wheat. Sorry.

Rennie can help, as can gaviscon, but I just got a prescription from the doctor for Ranitidine which has been life changing so far. I am still a bit uncomfortable and have to be careful with what I eat, but it essentially gets rid of the acid, so it doesn't hurt! I'm also 34 weeks and had the same with my first. I can assure it, won't improve until the baby is born, so I really would recommend going to the doctor and getting a prescription :)

I’ve suffered so bad with this, puts me off even drinking water as it’s that bad. Ranitidine has been an absolute life saver!

dangle I couldn't stomach water either that's what led me to finally going to the GP!

spearo21 · 15/11/2017 11:19

I suffered quite badly with this also. I had to get omeprazole from my GP and what a difference just taking one tablet a day! No reflux at all!

Hannabee123 · 15/11/2017 11:36

I have the doctors today luckily enough so I will mention it and see what they can do. It's happening with water on its own and light small meals too it's just so vile

I also recommend Rantadine. I felt horrific before I was on them. Now I feel almost normal.

Rebeccaslicker · 15/11/2017 11:51

Rennies and gaviscon!

Milk can also help.

Poor you :(

windowSong · 15/11/2017 11:53

Rennies are your friend, my friend!

Milk and gaviscon. Try to avoid juice and fizzy drinks completely.

ethelfleda · 15/11/2017 12:28

Ranitidine which has been life changing so far

I second this - this drug is the only reason I slept so well in the third trimester!

dangle90 · 15/11/2017 15:25

Names it’s awful isn’t it!! It’s like you know you need to drink plenty but subconsciously I wasn’t because I knew it would bring on the heart burn!
I want to see if the old wives tails are true about babies having a lot of hair if you get bad heart burn! I’m having twins and the sonogropher yesterday showed us the hair on the scan! So will be interesting to see next month if they are little gorillas 😂

Hannabee123 · 15/11/2017 16:06

Well I've been to the doctors got some ranitidine and been to aldi to get some more milk. Thankyou everyone looking forward to the relief at last!!!Brew

dangle yep I got a UTI because I wasn't drinking enough. Started drinking loads and then ended up vomiting and unable to sleep due to the acid. Literally cannot win!!

dangle90 · 15/11/2017 17:47

I got a bladder infection too names 😂** oh the joys!!

user1471469504 · 15/11/2017 18:04

You can take up to 11 rennies per day alongside the ranitidine. I take both on doctor’s advice.

dede124 · 15/11/2017 18:32

Gaviscon double action for me! I didn't get heartburn burn awful acid everyday some food and drinks triggered it more than others too. That's the only thing that worked even though it tastes horrible 😷

Hannabee123 · 15/11/2017 19:01

I'm I've taken one already and it's given me some well needed relief. Definitely a good call!
If only I could get rid of my preggo sensitive nose and stop smelling the dog haha Hmm
