How can I make it easier for my bloods to be taken?

It's always a struggle to find a vein good enough to get blood from. I had an appointment the other day and it took 5 attempts and they ended up using the back of my hand.
I have an appointment on Friday and was wondering if anything makes it easier?

Clench and unclench your fist repeatedly for 5 minutes before you go in. Makes all the difference for me.

As others said make sure you are very well.hydrated. It makes a big difference. I drink loads and loads of water in the 24 hours before a blood test.

Clench and unclench your fist whilst they put the tourniquet on and until they’ve hit gold (or red!!). Also YY to hydrating and staying warm.

I don’t struggle to have blood taken- I’m super easy it turns out! But if it’s getting to be a real struggle you can always ask if you can go to your hospital’s path lab to have it done with one of the phlebotomists will see you. I’ve had this offered to me before if there was no one available to take bloody from me at the time. They just send you with the lab request form and you sit and wait for the appointment. Weirdly I find that the male phlebotomists are always better/less painful too.
