17 weeks pg and my episiotomy scar has suddenly started aching

Hello, I'm 17 weeks pg and my episiotomy scar from my first baby (now two) has suddenly started aching. It feels really unpleasant and I'm worried it might be a sign of something horrible like a miscarriage.

Does anyone know if it's normal to experience vaginal pain around episiotomy scars like this or should I seek some help?

I'm sure I don't have a vaginal infection or anything like that.

I'm just so worried!

Pastalady, could it simply be that now your baby's getting heavier that there is more pressure down there?

Also you do have increased blood flow during pregnancy so it could just be that you are more sensitive down there too.
It certainly doesn't sound like anything sinister.
You wouldn't feel miscarriage pain in your scar that's for certain.
Why don't you speak to your midwife on mondy, just to ease your mind. I'm sure evrything's fine

Hi kittyhas6

The increased blood flow sounds possible. My scar healed very badly and was infected before it healed. Just called my midwife and she was very reassuring and said it could just be because of hormones 'loosening things up'.

Would still like to know if anyone else has experienced this though. As long as it's not a sign of something bad I'm not massively bothered. Just started so suddenly that's all!!

thanks for your post.

Hi, pastalady I tore with DS1 and when i was pg with DD1 I used to get a pressure/aching pain sometimes. It was worse if I squatted down!?! But all was fine, and no tear with DD, and she was 9lb 5oz! Good luck!

Hi kathrynharriet

That's reassuring to hear and also that your scar wasn't a problem with your second birth. Scar's can hurt for time to time and I suppose one in that area hurting when pregnant with all the muscle relaxing hormones and extra blood flow, isn't that unreasonable.

Going to try not to keep worring about it!
