Of course you'll be safe! 20 weeks is nothing. The second trimester is apparently the best time to fly anyway. Just make sure you get up and stretch your legs every so often, and drink lots of water (which I would advise anyone to do anyway).

A friend of mine flew to the Maldives at 26 weeks - she was fine and you will be too.

Hi EdieMcredie I emigrated at about 26 weeks and did a return flight to uk at about 20 weeks. Saw my doc before hand and he advised flight socks and plenty of water. The flights were fine and suffered no ill effects. Try to move around as much as you can a walk around helps with a numb bum.

when I say "20 weeks is nothing", by the way, all I mean is that your bump will still be v. small and you won't have problems manouvering yourself around, unlike me for example - I need a police escort and three day's notice just to get off the sofa at the moment.

Oh and another thing a bump came in handy at check in those nice people at BA let me skip and check in at the business class desk!

Thanks guys. No I was more worried about miscarriage or prem labour than my comfort. I know it's stupid but it's just something somebody said!

I think thirty weeks is the cut off point but even then airlines will let you fly, but maybe not long haul, with a letter from your doctor. As long as your pregnacy is going well ( which lets face it if it wasnt you would not be considering travelling to Barbados) I dont think you are putting yourself in danger. It might be a good idea to see your midwife/gp before you travel - for peace of mind

I flew to South Carolina for a 2 week holiday at 19 weeks. I wore flight socks but that was the only difference. I had a great holiday and felt the baby move for the first time while I was there. Lovely .
Enjoy yourself and don't worry.

Thanks everyone. I shall go and enjoy myself. Yes so far it's been a trouble free pg apart from my list of worries! My midwife and GP said it would be the best thing for me!
