Twin mums speak to me about prams

Hi all
As title says please speak to me about Prams. I had my heart set on a bugaboo donkey a few twin mums had recommended them but then at same time a lot have also advised against them.
What’s everyone got / thinking of getting? I prefer the ones where they are side by side which I think leaves me the bugaboo donkey and the mountain buggy duet. I prefer them parent facing too as long as possible.
Fourth time mum but first time I need a double pram 🙊

@Rox I really want a side by side one I don’t like the ones in front of each other personally.
Thankyou for all your opinions I think after having my heart set on bugaboo donkey I’m swaying a bit towards the mountain buggy duet. I am dragging dh to look at them next week and dimensions of them folded then obviously looking at the car he wants us to have and boot space. I ideally want to keep them parent facing as long as I can. I do like both the bugaboo and the mountain buggy the only thing putting me off the bugaboo is it’s width and the only thing putting me off mountain buggy is how the car seats sit on it and I remember relying a lot on the car seat on the pram frame when my ds was born. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Not a twin Mum but I was a nanny for twins. They had the mountain buggy and I loved it! Fits through doorways no probs I even took it on the bus. Such a lovely buggy!! They had a double carrycot which was so sweet when they were tiny as thay would cuddle up together and fall asleep. Adorable.

@Dinosaursdont I have seen that it’s so cute but then can’t justify buying that then the two carrycot seat plus as would have the ones that convert into parent facing seats. But I do love the idea of them being together. Thankyou x

Yes I can see that. Would be expensive.. we went straight from double carrycot to facing forward. The twins were so tiny they stayed in the carry cot until they were 5 months!

Good luck with your new babies. Twins are such a blessing. Hope you work out your buggy dilemma soon.

The donkey fits through a standard door frame but not with the car seat adaptors on.

Not twins but I had 2 under 2 and we had the Mountain Buggy Duet. It was fab. Very narrow wheelbase (narrower than single peaks like the Quinny Buzz) made it super easy getting through doorways, going on the bus etc.
The carrycot is narrow but my fairly big baby (8lb 7oz born, then followed 75th centile line) stayed in it until 5.5 months. It helped that he was October born - I think it may be a bit hot for summer use. But he fitted snuggly but fine even with a snowsuit etc. He liked the snug feeling and slept better in there than anywhere else.

I cannot fault my outnabout nipper.

I bought the car seat adapters for mine and didn’t even take them out of the box.

How old is your youngest older child? Will they need to use the buggy at all?

It didn’t appear to be a simple click clack like on some buggies to swap between the buggy and the car seat adapters and part of the reason I left mine as seats was so I could pop my littlest twin in a sling and put my 2yo into the buggy if necessary.

I have one that will be 8 when twins arrive and one that will be 3 nearly 4 when they arrive. So have the school run each day to do morn and afternoon. My three year old hasn’t used a buggy for a while so won’t be used for him. I can walk to school and back on some days probably the pick up as more time but then others will use the car and remember when ds was a baby on school run we used the car seat an awful lot on the pram for convenience ten mins in playground.
It’s all so confusing I think I’m gonna measure my door etc and see what one will fit comfortably in and out plus push some to try make up my mind but wanted everyone’s opinions on their thoughts having used them x

8 and 4 is a very different kettle of fish to 2.

In your position it’s about what will work for a school run and I can see the car seat adapters being invaluable.

Bez9087 · 29/10/2017 10:57

That’s what makes me stick to bugaboo but then I do like mountain buggy I just dislike how the car seats fit on the mountain buggy. Like staggered. I like on bugaboo they are side by side. decisions decisions. Need to measure boot space too 🙈
