Can you have reduced movements at 24 weeks?

I’m 23 + 6 and I think baby is moving less. Last week I could see movements but now it’s more like bubbly popping sensations again. Don’t know if this is normal. I was there on Monday and baby was perfectly fine, although lying transverse. Is it worth going in to check anyway as it’s still early on?

I’m currently waiting to see my midwife and the poster opposite me on the wall says past 20
Weeks you should call if a pattern of movement has changed.

ShyOyster · 26/10/2017 16:13

I’d go and check, just for my own peace of mind. It’s probably nothing but why worry?

YouCantArgueWithStupid · 26/10/2017 16:19

It’s still business hours. Call your MLU/BC/DS

jmd1991 · 26/10/2017 16:23

Exact same thing happened to me today. Being extra worried as I have hyperemisis and have pulled muscle in my lower abdomen which is causing a lot of pain. But since this pain baby has been really quiet.
So called midwife out and baby is just being lazy but really put my mind at ease. So I would advise to contact your midwife. Xx

Please go get checked out, midwives really don’t mind and you won’t be wasting their time at all. Kicks Count is a charity and I follow them on Facebook there is always things appearing on my timeline reminding to get checked if movements change or seem to lessen.

YouCantArgueWithStupid · 26/10/2017 16:36

I don’t think Kicks Count is now what they recommend? Happy to be corrected tho Smile

I rang them and they’re happy for me to go along after work (currently responsible for 4 small children so can’t really leave early!) I’m sure it’ll be fine but I know I’ll just sit and worry otherwise

Ring up if you feel any reduced movements always best to be safe and get peace of mind. I've done this twice when I've been worried and thankfully all was good x

cakesandphotos · 26/10/2017 20:44

Got checked, baby is totally fine Smile it’ll probably start wiggling like crazy now!

@cakesandphotos glad everything is well. Mine done the same moved non stop after seeing midwife x

Taking hope from your post cakes.
I'm 25 weeks and "she" has gone very quiet. At midwife on Tuesday and all Wednesday she was moving tons. Felt really strong movements. Last night still wriggling just not as much or as strongly and so far only felt her wriggle once today. Pretty worried so called the number on my notes. Going in at 3.15 to get checked out. Trying not to worry but it's hard. 😢

cakesandphotos · 27/10/2017 11:14

Hope it all goes well Pirates Flowers They told me that baby had been lying transverse so they were a bit more squashed up which is why I was feeling masses of knocks and kicks. Apparently it’s moved and could even be lying with it’s back against my tummy so I wouldn’t feel much. It was reassuring to be able to hear the baby move even when I couldn’t feel it. Made me realise I’m not going to feel every single movement, even some of the quite big ones

Hopefully it's something like that for me too. First pregnancy and it's all gone well so far. This has thrown me for a bit of a loop and I'm probably being overly dramatic. On the other hand if I don't get checked and I'm not just being a crazy person I couldn't live with myself. Arghhhh!!!!
Thanks for sharing your experience.

Oldschool41 · 27/10/2017 11:33

My midwife said to start checking movements from 28 weeks no need before hand as they have so much room to meet be about you would constantly worry

WhyArePiratesCalledPirates · 27/10/2017 11:46

Sods law just felt her kick a couple of times.
Bloody child is gonna be the death of me.
Midwife went through it all on Tuesday and was really clear on " don't sleep on it", "Any concerns..."
Feel a bit of a for now. Will keep paying attention and probably gonna end up calling back and apologising and cancelling. 😳😳

cakesandphotos · 27/10/2017 12:21

I felt baby too after I’d rung the midwives but I was still confident that the movements were different so I still went. I did feel slightly foolish in front of MW and DH who I made go with me but neither of them made me feel silly for checking. I know I would have worried all night and probably gone today anyway!

My midwife was very happy I went in when I hadn't felt baby move for nearly a day! Never feel silly it's best to be safe than sorry!

cakesandphotos · 27/10/2017 15:36

Hope you got on ok Pirates
