Tutter - totally of subject - I was looking for you a couple of days agao cause I remembered you were asking whether its too late to take supplements. I have been taking them from the start but gave up after 12 weeks. I have since gone back onto them cause Im knackered and they contain lots of iron so maybe just go onto them for your own health.

Tutter · 13/04/2007 12:39

hi liesel

funny you should say that - i was at the docs earlier (getting a note saying am ok to fly - am off on my hols on sunday ) and apparently my iron levels are very low

so have just taken a pregnacare tablet

and will really try to remember to take them from now on - honest

Theyre good arent they, if I wasnt taking them Id never be vertical.

MrsBadger · 13/04/2007 16:02

not a clue mate

are they like the Isabella Oliver ones where the solid fabric stops halfway down your back and you have to cover the rest by wrapping hooooge long ties round and round like an egyptian mummy?

MrsBadger · 13/04/2007 16:03

oh, and the best knot to use is one like you'd tie a tie with so the ends hang straight down

also good for dressing gowns etc

jem1969 · 13/04/2007 16:31

can't cope with all these wraps- I had to send everything back to isabelle Oliver as couldn't work them out! Never looked liked the picture....

MrsHarry · 13/04/2007 18:14

OMG Tutter, I got one of these wraps 2 mths ago, tried it on in the shop and my DH kept insisting it looked really nice.

But at home I keep putting it on, trying different ways of tying it, with different clothes..... and it always looks weird. I have the catalogue propped up by the mirror so I can copy the picture....well I can't actually.
Just when I start to think it looks ok then I look at the back and there's a big bit of material flapping!
Also thought it'd be better as I got more bump to fill it, but no. DH STILL insists it looks fab (I don't see it at all).

So not much help to you at all, except to say you're not alone....I have a degree too... (did that ever equip us for anything REALLY useful???!!)

Tutter · 13/04/2007 18:20

lol mrsH

so glad i'm not the only one

no, mrsB, it's not that there are long tie bits - it's the whole top that's huge - both wrappy bits could go around you twice

maybe they're meant to, but the chances of getting them to wrp neatly / in line with each other are zero, as far as i can tell

sounds nightmarish

send it back and get another cheapo blouse from H&M instead?

Miaou · 14/04/2007 09:41

I had a wrap top from jojomamanbebe last pregnancy - different style but I couldn't get it to wrap without gaping at the cleavage (of which I have none, so it looked well weird) - sent it back. I've got a mothercare wrap top which behaves nicely but it's just the standard ballet cardy wrap that ties at the back - that looks like it would take three people to help you put it on right (and don't go to the loo!!)

jabuti · 14/04/2007 11:35

wow, these wraps sound worst than trying to keep our jeans up!

i have bought 2 tops so far that are not exactly for maternity but they go well with a growing bump. in terms of sweaters, cardigans are working the best for me at the moment by leaving them unbuttoned.

i thought was funny the mummy description

EnormousChangesAtTheLastMinute · 14/04/2007 11:43

ah i got two of these yesterday and wore one for first time last night. took ages to tie and then another age infront of mirror sorting out gathers so looked ok... but as soon as you go to loo or have to hitch your mat jeans back up (ie every 3 mins) you need another full length mirror to adjust it again. also, it rode up at back through evening. what with that and jeans creeping down. well. not the look i was after!

but if it's tying you have a prob with my technique is to carefully wrap both bits round as smoothly as you can, tie and then go back round tweaking where gathers have gathered together so you don't get bumpy overlap. if that makes any sense!

glad it's not just me struggling!

(and don't start me on their linen trousers. size twelve was HUGE and looked like clown trousers. they went straight back!)

Annie75 · 16/04/2007 11:23

Oh, are their trousers really massive, enormouschanges? Have just ordered the linen ones yesterday in a 12 - normally somewhere between a 10 and 12, so thought I was being safe, but if they are massive, I might call them back and change the sizing... Bum, have also ordered the origami wrap top...

MrsBadger · 16/04/2007 11:29

I am a 10-12 on the bottom, though probably closer to a 10, and bought a couple of Jojo skirts in a 10 last week which fit very well - 12 would have been enormous.
Fingers crossed for your trews fitting...

jem1969 · 16/04/2007 11:58

I have a wrap dress and 2 wrap tops from Seraphine which I love but they are faux wraps and fit much better/look much better- no fiddly ties

jojo sizes are odd- tried size 12 trousers at the weekend which were enormous but size 14 skirt fine-am 'usually' 10-12.
