How bad are my stretch marks?

Are these standard or really bad? Blush

I woke up at 35 weeks with them!

I quite literally went from 0 to 100.

Now 36+ weeks and they only seem to get worse.

I’ve heard that they won’t fade very well on my skin tone, is this true?

Stretchmarks are just a lottery I suppose. Genetics and age seem to determine their appearance as much as weight gain. I have some from puberty yet none from a second pregnancy when I had polyhydramnios so an enormo-bump. I do have a couple more of them on my breasts from feeding dc2 though.

Well done on the 5st weight loss. That's pretty much losing my 5ft 10 year old! You look fabulous. Good luck ttc number 2. I had a 4.5 year gap and it seemed an age but it quickly comes flooding back!

ShowOfHands How are they age related? I haven’t heard of that one

I’ve only heard that it’s luck of genetics and weight gain

Because your skin changes over time for various reasons. Younger pregnant women are more likely to get stretchmarks than older ones.

Could be true @ShowOfHands I was 19 with my first and I’m covered

Tuvix · 22/10/2017 16:16

I had my first at 19 and am also covered, tummy, arse, hips and tits, just lovely. They are silvery now i am old though but i hate themHmm

Ahh, I see. I’m 19! That bell is certainly ringing true for me then.

I would’ve thought the older you are, the more likely you would have been to get them. But that’s without any real backup explanation apart from being fed the lie that younger bodies bounce back etc

I was 21 and my skin did bounce back even

Eventually *

I think stretch marks are far more to do with genetics than age. So if you got stretch marks on your thighs from weight loss in teens you’re more likely to get it in pregnancy

koalab · 22/10/2017 21:48

In my 30s and mine we're worse. I also didn't gain weight while pregnant, just a bump. They looked mean for a while but 10 months on they are pink instead of red and purple and some are silver already. They don't bother me though.

Hi,
Can anyone recommend a stretch mark cream that may help prevent stretch marks getting worse, I am currently 30 weeks, I haven’t really got many on my tummy just yet but yesterday noticed them all up the back of my knees, it really upset me as it was the last place I expected them, and they look quite viscous, has this happened to anyone else? & can any one recommend anything?

Thank you for this image. I'm 39 weeks with progressive marks and all I ever see online are just the saggy skin and redness. This gives me motivation.
