Finished work yesterday for maternity leave at 36w pregnant Grin feel really exhausted and last few weeks at work were really stressful trying to get projects handed over.
I have a list as long as my arm for things that need doing around the house (odd jobs, cleaning, sorting DIY stuff) but I'd love some more interesting ideas!

What did you do on mat leave before baby arrived that you were really glad you did?

I'm bemused by the suggestions to read books. I read so many books BFing my DC (kindle, great for one thumb swipe to turn a page).

I would say recording stuff which will peak your interest and keep your attention. Or placemark on iPlayer et al. Because in the middle of the night those things to watch can keep you sane and help you focus. I'd watch things on my phone with one earphone in!

Yes to stocking freezer, feeling organised and doing things which feel indulgent. But get out too; so that when you don't so much for a while it doesn't feel so 'long ago'.

I spent some much needed time alone. I did read a book but I've read tons since too. Going out to do treat things (cinema, meal, etc) with DP was also good.

Pragmatically, freezer meals, stocking up on basics and easy food, loo roll and other essentials was well worth it. And decluttering and putting all be stuff away clean was very satisfying. Also planning with DP who would do what after (ie I would do bugger all chores for a couple months, he would do nappies when home, etc) and agreeing who could visit when was really helpful.

Yes I've never got through so many books as in the first 6m with DD!
Def echo cinema as it's one of those things I never find worth getting a babysitter for unless you've got family round the corner.
