Hi everyone.
Just wondered if anyone has any tips on making it through the last 3 weeks of work without having to bring my mat leave forward.
I'm almost 28 weeks with twins, work in the hospital so on my feet a lot and just finding that I'm constantly moaning and struggling now.
I know it's only 3 weeks but it feels like Mount Everest at the moment.
So any tips on how you managed the last stretch would be great :)

I don't really have any advice on how to get through it op , but is it possible (financially) to go on leave earlier than planned?

I ask because I had a similar issue in that I wanted to get to a certain number of weeks but had so much back pain (and the small commute was becoming impossible) that I went sooner than I'd have liked.

I also have a physically demanding job and I felt like half a person for my last couple of weeks because I couldn't perform basic tasks without immense pain.

I just think that you should prioritise yourself here op , and you could possibly come to regret it if you don't.

I hope you come to a decision soonFlowers

Thank you for your reply.
Not really possible financially, it's hard I just keep telling myself it's only 3 weeks you can do it, but then when I'm hear I ache all over and just feel like a dead weight with no energy.
But you are right I will have to sit and think and make sure I do what's best rather than pushing myself if I can't manage

In that case could you get signed off by your gp for a few weeks or use some annual leave to go early? I know that's not always possible.

A work place can only force you into maternity from 4 weeks before due date any time before that is just pregnancy related illness and your doctor can sign you off. So if your like myself taking two weeks annual leave before my maternity starts a week before due date but get signed off before they can not force you into maternity leave. Hope that makes sense.

Yeah that makes sense oldskool I've been thinking about doing this as I go off on the 8th Nov but that is actually 3.5 weeks annual leave before my actual mat leave starts on 3rd Dec. Sounds stupid but... what will my dr actually sign me off for... I feel pathetic just saying I've no energy and feel like a dead weight ConfusedBlush

Yes he will sign you off if your struggling. Everyone is different in what they can handle I know myself after having a chest infection and feeling very drained that it's in the best interest for baby, my job and myself to be signed off. Doesn't make me any less of a mum to be than someone that's works right up to due date. We are all different. 😀
