I think I am miscarrying - 7 weeks pregnant

Hi everyone. I'm not sure why I am posting as I know everyone has different experiences, but I just think I want to put down what was going on somewhere.

I found out I was pregnant last Monday (2/10). On Monday (6+3) just gone I started to have some bleeding. It was only really on wiping, but it was both red and brown. I rang the midwife and they said they wouldn't scan me until 8 weeks and to ring back nearer the time.

On Tuesday after I wiped there was still both types of blood along with 2 small clots around the size of a pea. I again rang the midwife unit and was advised that they would see me the following Wednesday (18th). Obviously my head was all over the place so I decided to book a private scan.

I went for one that day and the sonographer had to do an internal scan. The equipment quality was not great and she said that I should complain and get my money back.

The findings were - Anteverted Uterus demonstrating an intrauterine 'sac'.There is an anechoic structure seen within measuring approx. 5mm. Appearance could represent an embryo but no fetal heartbeat identified.
MSD - 16mm (6+weeks)
Due to the poor image quality of this scan the patent has been advised to call her local EPU for further evaluation.'

I ran my EPU but they again wouldn't see me this week and have booked me in for Tuesday (17th).

I am still bleeding on wiping (or when i put the tissue a bit further nearer my cervix) but still nothing on a pad and no more clots.

Today my symptoms have started to decrease. I no longer need to wee all the time and my boobs aren't as sensitive/tender. I do have some stretching pain and back pain and I did another test and it was instantly positive, however, I am aware that your hormones take a while to settle (but would the test be instantly positive?)

Sorry for the long post, we have 2 beautiful children who are our world, but this was a planned pregnancy that we had tried for for 10 months and I just feel so sad. I am struggling to think anything positive at the minute. Thanks to anyone who has read this far!

I'm so sorry. Flowers

This happened to me last year. It's really tough. Do you have a close friend or family member you could spend time with today?

Nervousmumof2 · 12/10/2017 12:20

Thanks for responding Amethyst, I am working from home today, but I have my 2 year old son with me who is keeping a smile on my face :)

Just finding the unknown hard. I know in my head it is a miscarriage (especially given the size of the embryo a heartbeat should be detected at that size, poor equipment or not) but can't help but try to cling on to some hope, even though I know there is no point.

My husband has been great, even though he is really struggling with it too. I'm not someone who is great to showing my feeling to others so that's why I think it was easier to write something on here!

Yeah, I understand. It really helped me that my friends were there but never pushed me to talk about it. My husband talked to his friends about it though, and that helped him.

My DS was also 2 at the time. They're great medicine, aren't they! Smile

Feel free to update if you need to chat more. Xo

Nervousmumof2 · 12/10/2017 19:24

Thanks very much :) I'm feeling a bit better now, just want Tuesday over with so that they can confirm the inevitable. Did you try again after your miscarriage? x

Sending lots of hugs, just want to offer some hope- I had a similar amount of bleeding during my first pregnancy, went for an EPU internal scan at 8 weeks and currently snuggled up to the little blob we saw on the screen who is now 3. Fingers crossed it was the equipment and you get a heartbeat on Tuesday 😘

Amethyst975 · 12/10/2017 19:54

Glad to hear you're feeling better. We didn't try again at the time. We gave ourselves time to deal with it and then life got in the way and it just never happened. We talked about it again recently and kind of decided we should just get on with it! Wink

Littlebear Lovely to hear your happy story! Smile

Evening all. Just thought i would give you an update.

So I went for my scan 2 weeks ago at the EPU and the size of the sac had decreased since the terrible private scan. As a result I was told I was having a miscarriage and to go home and see if I miscarried over the next 2 weeks. Obviously we were devastated. 2 weeks passed and I went back to the EPU on Monday on my own as I assumed they would scan me and see that nothing had changed and I would be given some tablets to help bring on the miscarriage. To my sheer shock the sonographer said there was a baby with a heartbeat. I couldn't believe it. It's been such an emotional roller coaster.

My dates should be 9+5 today but the baby is measuring 7+3 so i'm not sure why my dates are so out as I was tracking my LMP etc.

I am still a bag of nerves but so happy that everything is back on track, it's been a crazy few weeks!

Congratulations op that's great news! Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy Flowers

JoJoSM2 · 01/11/2017 22:03

Congratulations :) Weird stuff going on. I wonder if you ovulated twice within a week or two and the current embryo was too small to see when you had the scans.

Nervousmumof2 · 01/11/2017 22:11

Thanks Sharl2017 and JoJoSM2

I know JoJoSM2 it's all very strange and i get a bit worried when the dates are so out, but the songrapher said the growth between the first EPU scan and the one on Monday is what she would expect to see and it is a viable pregnancy. Can you even ovulate twice?! something weird has gone on. But as long as everything is healthy I don't care! I have 2 other children and they were spot on date wise!

JoJoSM2 · 01/11/2017 22:24

Yes, you can ovulate twice. I read some research that found out that about 10% of women do (although not sure if it's only some cycles). Sounds like the little one is doing very well. Fingers crossed for things being stress free from here :)

smerlin · 01/11/2017 22:31

I had a fair amount of bleeding in 1st trimester, multiple visits to EPU, confusion over dates etc and all turned out to be fine. Bleeding settled after about Week 14 and was plain sailing from then on. Was desperately worried at the time though.

Amethyst975 · 02/11/2017 07:07

Wow! Wonderful news!! Smile Flowers

seizethecuttlefish · 03/11/2017 19:40

Brilliant news. I had a big bleed at 5weeks (thought it was 7 by my dates) and was sure I had miscarried. I bled on and off for weeks. I’m 12.5weeks now and everything is looking good. So glad it’s looking good for you too.

Brenna24 · 03/11/2017 20:00

Fantastic news. I hope it all goes smoothly from here on in. Flowers

Nervousmumof2 · 06/11/2017 21:37

Thanks everyone. I contacted the private scan company and because of all the issues they have offered me a complimentary scan on the 14th so hopefully all will be well and the baby is still developing fine.

We will be away on holiday then, so I won't be around to say good luck. So best of luck to you now. Grin

Raf121 · 07/11/2017 23:38

Ive just read the entire thread and it brought me to tears!
What an ordeal you have had! But i am so so happy for you. I wish you and your family all the luck in the world. Congratulations!!

Brenna24 · 23/11/2017 05:34

How did the scan go?

BrutusMcDogface · 23/11/2017 09:58

I've just read this thread and I have a friend who had a similar situation; thought she was miscarrying and was told she was, then a further scan showed that little heartbeat. Child is now a big strong 5 year old!

How was your scan, op? Hope all is well Flowers

teaortequila23 · 23/11/2017 10:05

Hey I had a bleed like yours go on for about 2weeks at 7weeks and then it calmed down. I didn’t ring the midwifes as I wasn’t under their care yet but told my Gp he got me seen at the emergency gyno clinic the same day I had an internal scan it was very good quality and they found the heartbeat and said she didn’t know why I was bleeding and sent me home. When I got in it got heavy (but only bc of the internal scan) then I stayed off my feet for 2days and it calmed down to only when I wipe again I’m now 12weeks they said it was a hormonal bleed. Just go to the Gp and ask for EGU they can get you seen ASAP I feel like midwifes haven’t got time to deal with ppl under 12weeks as everyone knows anything can happen until that time.
Good luck x
(Also don’t lift you dcs)
