What does SPD feel like?

Every so often When I stand up I get a sharp crampy pain in my pelvic area. It can last a few hours and then disappear only to come back again a few days later. I'll only 24 weeks and don't have a large bump so don't really think SPD is what it is but I thought I'd ask.

Hi there
Mine hurts with every step, its more of a stab than a cramp right at the front of my pelvis and down the ligament to my right leg. If I sit on anything hard it hurts really badly and makes it very hard to walk.

BTW I'm only 11 weeks! Apparently if you have it in a previous preg you're more prone to it earlier in subsequent pregs.

Last time round I found I needed to sit on cushions and used a walking stick towards the end. There's not much you can do about it I don't think just tough it out.

'crampy' doesnt sound like it tbh. is more like a v sharp stab of pain. (ime at least)

have you spoken to doc? mw? i think you should... could be all sorts of things or maybe nothing to worry about, but best to find out.

my spd started as general back hip and groin pain kinda achey... i could literally feel my pelvis and hips grinding as i walked, that was from about 14weeks, the pain got worse and worse, every step itook, rolling over in bed, i couldn't sit or lay anywhere.. and by the end i just couldn't leave the house! i couldn't walk more than a few steps before utter agony kicked in.

can someone please tel me what spd is? i have a similar complaint and have been having physio but no one has mentioned this, im 27 weeks? thanks x

symphysis pubis disorder (i think! and sp)

the pg hormones weaken the connective stuff between the two halves of pelvis and when they move, it HURTS. in some it even separates. O U C H.

is natural for the hormones to soften things up in prep for accomodating other being and, of course, pushing the not so wee bugger out. but its not supposed to do that to the pelvis.

im sure someone can link to much better explanation and more detail, but thats just a quick answer.

i think its one of those trade secrets that you dont know about till you have it, then everyone says 'oh yeah, that. s'dead common that'. like tongue tie.

Thanks for all your advice. As I said I'm not sure it is as I believe SPD is VERY painful. This is just annoying.
