Hi everyone, I'm new here & this is my first post, but i've found loads of really helpful advice on this site for a first time pregnancy! I'm 30 weeks pregnant so trying to get the nursery sorted, and bought a Mamas & Papas Rosalia cot off ebay last week (am obviously buying brand new mattress!)DH assembled it this weekend and have just discovered that it only has one level for the mattress (lowest level). It is a dropside cot, but i am now worried that I may regret this purchase due to it not having an adjustable mattress height. How important is it to be able to change the height? Should it sell it on and get another one? Help!!

At first, I guess it helps because baby will be in and out alot to feed so you'll be bending over alot to pick them up but when they get a bit older it'll be fine as they will start to pull themselves up and thats the time you'd lower it.

Are you putting baby straight into the cot or are you using a moses basket or carrycot?

Hi kittykitt,

Our cot only had 2 heights. It was handy to have them up higher when they were tiny but not majorly important.

Anyway my 2 didn't go into the cot straight away. ds was in his basket till 6 weeks and dd till 5 months. And by then it needs to be lower so they can't fall out.

I'f you're happy with the rest of it then I'd keep it.

I lost the screws on my DDs cot so we held it together with the plastic ties that can hold a fence together! So we had it ont he lowest level from day one. No biggie at all.

Keep it. Not really an issue.

I have a moses basket that I am planning on using to begin with. Sounds like it will be ok then! Pregnancy jitters - just want everything to be right!!!

Bless you. My nesting instinct was so strong with no 1 I was a mad woman, it was very funny looking back! Of course you want it all to be right, but do you know what, a baby really just needs you and some nappies and a few sleepsuits. Later on they need 10 ton of shit, but in teh very early days they just need you, a bit of milk and lots of sleeep.
It's going to be lovely Good luck

You'll be totally fine with it. Especially with a moses basket too. I used to put our carrycot in the cot on top of the mattress to save space and to make it a bit higher.
