My partner is 7 weeks pregnant and yesterday (sat) started bleeding, we went to Morriston hospital out of ours where they took her blood pressure etc and examined her then sent us to singleton hospital for blood tests! We waited all day for a blood test they said they couldn't fit us in for a scan until Thursday! That's absolutely crazy! My partner has not stopped crying she's heartbroken and all she wants to know is if we are still having a baby, Is there anywhere we can go before Thursday?? shes still bleeding today and said she seen a clot which is not good, just want to know where we stand, thanks

Hi there sorry you are going through this.
Does your nearest hospital have an early pregnancy clinic with a walk in morning clinic? I ask because the hospital I work in has a walk in first come first served system ( triaged if necessary) patients need a referral from gp, midwife, out of hours gp, a&e etc which can be faxed through or the pt turns up with it.

At 7 weeks they may not see much on the scan and it will most likely have to be a tvs (trans vaginal scan) but sadly at 7 weeks there isn’t anything else they can do other than rule out ectopic, Mis-miscarriage.

If your dws bleeding gets heavier or she starts to feel unwell call the out of hours gp for advice.

As she is only 7 weeks it's unlikely they'd be able to tell you straight away if it is a miscarriage. Your best bet is to wait until Thursday for the scan, but like others have said see if you can get in for blood tests before then to track your hcg levels.
Hope it's not bad news for you.

Private scans won’t be internal so depending on dates may cause further worry if nothing can be seen. As hard as it is I would wait for your NHS one Flowers

Any news op?

Can't thank you all for your responses, this forum is very good and helpful! We went in for bloods yesterday but as her levels were already really high they said just decided to scan! Anyway scan revealed an ongoing pregnancy with a nice little heart beat! Thanks again all! Smile

Brilliant news Dale. Obviously that was the best outcome and then the bonus of having saved £89 by not having a private scan is a double win! Hope all continues to run smoothly for you both 😊
