I found out yesterday i am pg with my 2nd and am only about 5 weeks so i know its still early.
We told mil and sil yesterday but i dont know how to tell my dad.
When i was pg with ds i was terrified to tell him and i dont know why, now i dont know what to say to him this time.
It will come as a surprise for eveyone as no-one knew we were ttc.
How did you tell people, especially immediate family??

hey quootie!!

ha ha i know that feeling. my mum did the same we agreed to wait until 12 weeks, she barely waited 1!

hadn't you almost finished college though when you got pregnant? doesn't seem like there was much point in telling them! my mum was convinced she needed to for health and safety reasons - wtf?!

sorry, hijack over!

With all of mine I phoned my mum to tell her.
PIL with ds we told them face to face after I was told[we were in shock},with DD1 we told them over lunch as we had a missed mc 3mths before so think they knew we were TTC. With DD2 we told them over the phone as I knew they would be shocked as DD1 was just 4mths.

Well ive just told my dad, for some reason i was scared to tell him and i dont know why.
He asked if my ds was ok and i said yes i've just told him he's going to be a big brother, it took a while for the penny to drop with my dad as he was hungover but he's really pleased

DD (then 16) found BFP pg test on my dressing table & came downstairs waving it around saying "what's a pregnancy test doing in your bedroom". It was the day of her prom and she cried all afternoon. I've never felt so guilty in my life. DH was away at the time so I did another one on the day he got back & wrapped it like a present & gave it him when he got in - the look on his face (totally overjoyed) was wonderful

Oooooooooooops didn't read the OP properly. With DD we gave all our parents a christmas card (at the same time) with a scan photo on the front and the caption 'merry christmas grandma and grandpa' with ds told parents by saying 'so how do you feel about being grandparents again...'

VoluptuaGoodshag · 10/04/2007 15:43

Phoned family and friends. At work after my scan, sent an email round saying "dear all, I'm up the duff"

SlightlyMadSlug · 10/04/2007 22:44

Bump - cos I want to hear more interesting stories

LindzDelirium · 11/04/2007 14:32

we found out a few days after Xmas 2001. We always go as a family with DH's crowd to a panto on new years day and we always take up an entire row in the theatre, so DH and I sat at the end and whispered to SIL "Lindz is pregnant, pass it on" - to which she looked at us in shock (unplanned!) for a few mins so chinese whispers didn't really work.
Told my Mum over the phone as she lives a long way away and I phoned by best friend and she guessed before I even said anything (but she's always been a bit psychic with me!)

These are awesome. I think I'm going to copy you Jamantha, but I also think SlightlyMadSlug has a hilarious one there which I will use on our friends. I laughed at littlelapin's story as my DH was the same - a just-woken-up confused groan, then a whoop of glee when I got back from work!

Surfermum · 19/04/2007 18:37

With most people it went like this:

"Would you like a drink?" (meaning alcohol)

"No thanks"

"WHAT? Oh you must be pregnant".

Eaglebird · 19/04/2007 19:30

I told my parents I had something to show them, and gave them the 12-week scan pics. They just looked at them, not knowing what they were (they're both in their late 70s), and asked 'what is it??'.
'Your first grandchild' I replied.
They were both over the moon. My Dad cried, he was so happy. Awwwwwwwwwwww.
