Help with right calorie intake?

I am 15 weeks pregnant. I am wondering how many calories I am supposed to be eating for my baby's development?

I am only 5'4 so my normal calorie amount to maintain my weight before I got pregnant was at the lower end, about 1500 a day. Should I be aiming to gain a pound per week, so about 500 calories more per day? Or as the NHS says should I eat the same at the moment? I also walk about 60-90 minutes per day as part of my commute and in my lunch break so I don't know if I should eat back these calories also??

The midwife didn't really say anything at my booking in appointment (other than that my BMI was normal) and I'm not due to see her again for another 3 weeks. Does anyone have any info they could share?

Thanks very much!

Just eat and stop worrying.

Ha! I know I need to chill a bit! Every day I think of something new to fret about (first baby, IVF pregnancy...!)

Just relax and enjoy it, congratulationsFlowers

You don't actually need any extra calories until the final trimester and even then it is only 200 a day. Just relax, it isn't something you need to worry about x

I second delilah Smile just don't overthink it - try and eat a healthy, balanced, varied diet and leave it at that.

mindutopia · 04/10/2017 16:39

Like everyone else said, don't overthink it. Eat a healthy diet and eat when you're hungry. You don't need to try to gain weight (you will), but you don't need to count calories either. It's hard enough being pregnant to worry about all of that.

Losgann · 04/10/2017 16:47

Thanks everyone for the reassurance, I will try and stop overthinking it!

This.

I'm a big believer in your body telling you if you're lacking vitamins etc from food. Similarly, you'll just naturally know if you're eating the right amount and common sense will tell you not to eat McDonald's every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Chill.

Cracklesfire · 04/10/2017 18:45

Just eat to your hunger and/or nausea and don't overthink it. Some days I can't face food and others I'll be sick if I don't have lunch at 11am. Last pregnancy I lost weight but DS was almost 10lbs so it hadn't had any impact on him. Your body will make sure baby has what he/she needs first.
