Sleepyhead - is it really worth it?

As the subject says really.

We have a Chicco Next2Me bedside crib. I have read good reviews about the Sleepyhead making baby sleep better but they're quite expensive.

Would you say it's worth it?

A million times yes!! We used it all over the house for naps and in the bedside cot at night. Also means you don't need a travel cot for a few months. We even took it on holiday with us. Can you tell I loved it?!

Yes!! It's amazing if you're on the move and need to set them up on a bed at a friend's house or at a hotel without lugging around a travel cot.

Okay you've sold it to me.. That was easy Grin Is it suitable for up to 6 months or longer?

The only baby I know who slept in one still wakes multiple times at night at 14mo.

Yes worth every penny, my DD wouldn't go down on her own till we bought this. She sleeps amazingly now.

Sleepyhead has been a complete failure for me. It's sat next to me now in my next to you crib. Baby hates it. It's no better to her than the hard crib mattrrss.

Sunshinegirl82 · 03/10/2017 20:50

I think it entirely depends on the baby. Ds loved it and settled really well in it. I know other people who found it didn't make much of a difference. It was really useful for moving around the house and when out and about.

You could wait to see if baby sleeps OK in the cot and get one if not? Next day click and collect with John Lewis/Waitrose.

Mine loves it. But he was in neonatal where the nurses make something similar with rolled up sheets. He has always settled beautifully in it.

I've been told that the Sleepyhead is the only baby nest that's been approved for overnight sleeping, but when I tried to find confirmation of this, I couldn't find anything concrete. Does anyone know where I can find this info?

I'd only buy it if your baby won't settle to be honest. When ds was 9 weeks old we bought it and it was a lifesaver. He finally started sleeping in his snuzpod (rather than on mine or dh chest) however at 7 months he outgrew it and it was a week of torture weaning him off it. We didn't want to buy the bigger one as it's huge and there was no way we were prepared to lug it around for nights away!

We waited and ordered it on amazon prime same day delivery when DD was a week old. It was great for us, she slept brilliantly for the first four months, then the four month sleep regression started and nothing improved that. It was great for safe co sleeping though and whenever we went away she was always in her own bed. She outgrew it at six months. We tried to avoid getting the next size up but ended up giving in month later and getting amazon same day again. I sold the small one for £75 on eBay and the big one for £100, so you get a good bit of money back if you want to sell.

Rockandrollwithit · 04/10/2017 09:54

I have one and 3 week old DS will not sleep in it. To be fair, he won't sleep anywhere that isn't on me or DH so it's not the Sleepyhead's fault.

Maybe wait and see what kind of baby you get?
