Giving up smoking in pregnancy

I don't want to be judged, and please don't leap on me. I am 9 weeks and really want to give up smoking. I know the risks of smoking and benifits of giving up. I have phoned the NHS helpline but they are closed atm. I have found a list of providers in my area and have found a few chemists that seem to offer the service, but am unsure if that what it means. I want to do this tomorrow, but know I will find it hard without help. Do chemists normally offer this service?

Hi, just thought I'd add my experience to the mix. Gave up as soon as I found out I was pregnant, had wanted to give up for at least 3 months but had tried and failed starts. I'd never even managed more than 5 days throughout my 15 year smoking career and thought I'd always be a smoker. Had read a couple of alan carr and seen his video, none of which made me give up, but when it came to giving up all his pointers helped enormously. All the psychological help is such a benefit, the wee games you play with yourself are ridiculous and Alan Carr really helps with seeing them for what they are.

On a really positive note can I just say that once you get over that psychological barrier of stopping thinking you are actually giving something up and realising you are getting loads of stuff from stopping it is unbelievably easy. I cannot get over it and at least once a week thank my lucky stars that I don't smoke anymore. I still get the odd pang for one when all my friends are smoking and I'm having a glass of wine but it all pales into insignificance when I realise I've got extra cash in my pocket (much needed), my house doesn't smell of smoke and more importantly my daughter doesn't breathe my smoke or smell of it. It really is one of the best things you will ever do.
