Sunbathing abroad

I'm going on holiday tomorrow and it's going to be a lovely 25-30 degrees for the week.
Ordinarily I lie and bake in the sun for hours!
I know I won't be doing that this time as I've read loads about skin reacting differently and I know the dangers of the sun and always use a good factor cream.
But I've been reading today about body temperature and how it's dangerous for me to get too warm in myself as it could hurt the baby! I'm 21weeks now.
I know I won't be laid out frying myself for hours but I'm worried about just getting too hot all over.
I love the sun and didn't book this holiday to stay in the apartment all day every day, but I honestly didn't realise just being hot in itself could be dangerous! I've got fans and obviously intend on drinking gallons of water each day and spending plenty of time under the parasol. I'm just so worried about overheating! I've got the absolute horrors about the fluid in the sac getting really warm and the baby struggling in there 😫😫😫
Could anyone offer any advice or tell me I'm overreacting, I'm having a total wobble tonight 🙈

At 26-28 weeks I went to Hawaii, was extremely hot. My advice is just as you said, stay in the shade and lots of water. I love to tan so I spent three half hour periods lying in the sun and felt ok. I went in the water regularly and back into shade once when I get my heart rate go up a bit! Hydration is the main thing. Those temperatures wouldn’t worry me but stay comfortable. Enjoy :)

I went to Turkey for 2 weeks in August when I was 26-28 weeks pregnant and it was minimum 37 degrees most days. Yes I suffered more than usual but I just made sure I had some shade and went in tge pool or the sea loads to cool down. I did suffer with swollen ankles by the end of each night but I then had a cooling foot soak and elevated my legs for a bit before bed each night. I'm so glad we had this relaxing holiday. You'll be fine, enjoy😊

You may find that you don't cope with the heat as well as you did pre pregnancy because your increased blood flow often makes you feel hotter than normal. This may solve your problem and you could naturally want to spend more time in the shade than in the sun.

Sakura, can’t believe I forgot about my monster feet. Top tip- fill a sink or ice bucket with very icy water and soak two towels for a while, squeeze out and wrap tightly around your feet and ankles then elevate them as high as possible. You’re at the perfect stage for a holiday OP :)

You're overreacting! I live in the US and am 38 weeks. It's been a hot summer and I am not a heat lover at the best of times, especially chasing a toddler round. As long as you are sensible and don't get dehydrated or heat stroke etc you'll be fine. Plenty of pregnant women live in hot countries.

Forgot to add - enjoy your holiday!

I just got back from Majorca, I'm 24 weeks & also a sun bunny 😃 I usually bake all day in factor 20, but after I burnt my shins on a 'normal' summers day in the uk in June at 5 weeks 🙈 I knew my skin was way more sensitive.

I used factor 50 and still got a nice tan (who knew lol) and when it got hot I kept a small white towel over my bump, every often I'd dunk it in the pool & wring it out so it kept my tummy lovely and cool.

Drank loads of water, and mocktails & alcohol free beer were available everywhere!

Oh and I've never got travel sick but found I was really nauseous & uncomfortable on both flights...

Oh thank you all so much! I feel loads better today! I was so panicky last night! That's a really good idea about dunking the towel and keeping it cool and wet on my tum! Fab tip!
I'm excited now girlies! Thanks again so much!xx
