I know promethazone is ok for morning sickness so can I take it as sominax to sleep?

Because I can't get to sleep!!!
All I've been doing this pregnancy is sleeping or wanting to and now I've got a bed to myself, an empty bladder (for now Angry) and fresh sheets and I can't doze off.

I did this with cyclizine. Had it for hyperemesis but sometimes was glad that it had a sedative effect.

Ahh, good! I'm going to have to pop one because I'm still awake!!!!!

Dh woke up and came to bed and dd needed a cuddle and somehow I'm curled up on the end of the bed with no cover and a full bladder.

If I was pregnant I would only take it for the intended use , and avoid any extra medication for babies sake and put up with the insomnia.

@Cupcakegirl13 good for you. I take it you don't suffer with hyperemesis or insomnia? How much do you know about promethazine? It's completely safe in pregnancy. Maybe do some research before guilting women who take medication in pregnancy.

thingymaboob · 30/09/2017 07:49

@Cupcakegirl13 "avoid any extra medication for babies sake" is a really ignorant comment.

Do you think somehow the body distinguishes between it being used for sickness and used for insomnia and causes it to have different effects on the baby? Don't be ridiculous.

Thanks for the reasurrence. I slept well but wish I'd taking it earlier as feel a bit sluggish now. But not sick!

@Natsku well put.

Your best off seeing a GP and getting it "approved" so to speak if it's a regular thing but it is classed as "safe".

I found this

uk.lush.com/products/sleepy-0

Don't ask me how but it works, I've had sleep issues for years been on everything from zopiclone to diazepam and it works wonders.

RedBlackberries · 30/09/2017 14:01

Thanks for the link unborn. (Hope baby is thriving btw)

I love lush product so would definetly give it a whirl.

I don't want to start sominax too often to sleep either.

I was amazed how well it works. Must be some form of witchcraft.

Baby is a little git champion, he's home now just on oxygen for a few months.

RedBlackberries · 30/09/2017 19:29

Ahh, that's great to hear he's home and made so much progress.

I'm going to give the witchy lush stuff a go.
