I’m going for induction on Tuesday, I’ve had chicken pox as have my children but I have been around someone who has just got chicken pox.

Will baby be ok as I have had in past or best speaking to midwife? Can you still carry virus if had it and pass when baby born?

It would be best to speak to the midwife, I work with under 5’s, so when I was pregnant they did an immunity check for me (even though I had chicken pox as a child) just to check that I was immune and couldn’t pass it on.

Will give call tomorrow. Thank you.

I agree with the previous post. Ask for an immunity check. My DS got chicken pox a few weeks ago when I was 34 weeks pregnant and even though I had already had chicken pox as a child they were happy to do the blood test to check I was immune.

Do you think it’s best to phone maternity tomorrow or wait for midwife Monday or maternity Tuesday at induction.

Never away from maternity last few weeks.

I’d probably phone tomorrow and tell them the situation and then they can tell you what you/they need to do.

Thanks Bryna, will give them a call in morning.

You’re very welcome! How did it go?

If you've e had chicken pox then yes, your immunity protects them. My eldest had them when I was pregnant with my youngest
