Reassurance scan

I'm 6+4 with second pregnancy and struggling with extreme nausea and vertigo.

Ive resigned myself to having to tell my emotionally repressed boss on my return to work shortly.

I don't like telling people before 12 weeks due to mc risks (I've not had one before thankfully, and no threatening during this pg).

I'd like a private scan at around 8week, but am I kidding myself that will give any reassurance? Has anyone had one? How long did the reassurance last?

Hi op I had a scan at 7+5 at the weekend and it gave me lots of reassurance. I think the risk of mc after you've seen a heartbeat at 8 weeks drops to around 4%. I've just had my scan date though for my 12 week NHS scan which is in just over 3 weeks so it seems a very manageable time to wait now. I would definitely recommend one if you're worried.

I had one in my first pregnancy with DD at about 8 weeks. I loved seeing her in there. Smile realistically the reassurance only lasted a couple of weeks but it was worth it for me.

I'm 8 weeks again now and tempted to have another but may see if I can hold off!

Ha, two weeks is longer than I was expecting! I think part of me just wants to know there's something in there that's doing what it should

I found this link helpful www.easybabylife.com/miscarriage-statistics-by-week.html

There's another one too which shows slightly higher odds hence where I got the 4% from but I can't find the link - sorry!

I had a scan at about 7 weeks and then a further scan at around 10 weeks prior to having the harmony test. It helped me massively. I was quite anxious anyway and there was no way I'd have made it until 12 weeks.

Scan confirmed that there was definitely a pregnancy in the right place and it seemed to be progressing well at that point. We saw the heartbeat and statistically that means the chances of miscarriage are lower.

It's obviously not a guarantee of anything and I didn't relax completely but it did help.
