11 weeks and slight bleed - HELP!

Im 11 weeks 1 day and last night after going to the loo, when i wiped there was blood. It only happened once. It was kind of a pinky colour and has now stopped but it has worried me.

I had pain on my left side yesterday too. But i think this was caused by the ligaments stretching.

Is the bleed a bad sign? Has anyone else had this around 11 weeks? Ive tried ringing my midwife but her office is closed until monday. Ive got no pain at all and "touch wood" the bleeding has stopped. What should i do?

i had this at 10 weeks and went on the have healthy baby girl, i went to a&e, and they checked me out but looking back i think i would have gone to the antenatal ward,

hope everything is ok

Dont call NHS direct. They will leave you waiting for a call back for hours only to tell you to go to your local drop in centre or hospital.

I would say if is worrying you, better to check it out otherwise you will worry all weekend. Call your GP's and get the out of hours surgery number and call them

FWIW, I found out last sunday that I am 12 weeks pg and last month I had a light period for 3 days. Its very common so dont worry too much if you can.

I know everyone is different but I had exactly the same at 10 weeks. The GP will take no risks though and would no doubt send you straight for a scan (like I was). Just go straight to A&E, to be safe. Mine turned out to be a (quite common) 'bruise' left from implantation, and all has been well since. Good luck x

More of the same really. I was sent to A&E and then referred up to the obstetrics ward for a scan. In my case it was a cervical erosion- not a problem and haven't bled again- nearly 35 weeks now. Bleeding in pregnancy, especially the first trimester is very common. Either phone your out of hours GP if you are very worried or wait until Monday morning and call your midwife. That said if you have any heavy bleeding, clottiing or pain you know you must do something straight away.

Good luck to you.

I bled at 11 weeks with DS, went to A&E sobing and sobing. Had a scan 2 days later, everything was fine.
Bled at 6, 8, 10, 12 weeks with dd. At 8 and 12 week the bleading was very, very heavy and I also lost clots. Really thought I'd lost her at 12 weeks, but obviuosly not, and the rest of the pg was fine.

You've probably got your 12 week scan soon, which should but your mind at rest. I don't know how difficult it is to get an emergancy scan where you are. If you go to A&E they may or may not give you a pregnancy test, and will arange a scan.

sounds like something that would be caused by a cervical erosion, which is not dangerous or sinister in any way...it is not the same as losing bright red blood in a flow.....

and no pain is good...

you will be referred to the EPU for a scan, but hard to say when due to bank holidays, it is unlikely to be anything bad, but with your history you are bound to be worried

Thanks for all the advice everyone. I had a internal examination at 5 weeks and the nurse told me then that i had a cervical erosion so thats probably what it is. I think it may be someting to do with the ligaments stretching too. The muscle in the top of my left leg is aching like mad and when i had the pain yesterday that was also on my left side. Ive got my 12 week scan in just over a week (16th april). I'll think ill wait until then for a scan. But if it comes back and i get cramps ill phone the EPU.

Hi Just another vote on the cervical erosion really.
I had a bleed at 20 weeks with my first pregnancy - had a massive panic and went to see my gp who was very reassuring. Had a healthy baby girl and only found out about the erosion after the baby was born.

It may be worth mentioning about the bleed to your gp though if you don't know your blood type and it is your first baby. I am rhesus negative and so had to go for anti-d injection straight after seeing the gp in case my blood had mixed with the baby's. Just a thought....

Also, do not be worried about going to get reassurance from your gp or midwife. There is no point in being stressed about anything when a simple check over could completely set your mind at rest!
