Sorry tmi... thrombosed pile

Please help me. As the title suggests I think I have a thrombosed pile.

I'm 33 weeks pregnant and due to diarrhoea from an allergy to iron tablets I developed a sore bottom. I stopped the tablets but the diarrhoea continued for a good week and a half. That resolved and then I ended up completely constipated. Bottom was still sore and lumpy and was diagnosed with piles.

Saw GP Friday and was prescribed lactulose and scheriproct ointment. Stools were still hard Saturday and a big hard lump appeared. Stools much softer now with lactulose but pile lump is hard, hot and itchy and not able to be pushed in.

Research tells me this could be thrombosed. What do I do? I have the scheriproct ointment and also have anusol suppositories and anusol cream but I'm worried I'm not supposed to be using all these products in pregnancy, particularly the suppositories.

I'm in so much pain now. Walking and sitting both hurt and I just want to get rid of the blighter. I suggested popping it but OH thinks I'll bleed to death so thought I'd ask MN. I don't have a bath so can't soak it either.

Overall this pregnancy has been shitter than shit so one more thing to add to the list of awfulness.

Please help get rid of my big pile 🙈

Do not pop it! People have these operated on so I don't think you should do it yourself .

If your GP made the prescription use it! They obviously know that you are pregnant. Piles are very common in pregnancy. I use over-the-counter Anusol but I believe you can get a stronger steroid version that is still safe to use in pregnancy, A number of friends have used it.

I had this with dc2 from 35 weeks was agony....nkthing worked until I gave birth as apparently the head stops the blood flowing back up from there if it is engaged...hipe u get sorted xx

Get a washing up glove. Fill it with water. Tie the top. Pop it in the freezer. You now have ‘fingers’ of ice that are the perfect shape to soothe ur poor pile. ( you may laugh but it works, trust me!!). Just remember to wrap it in a bit of cotton first! the other stuff is fine in pregnancy but the ice is immediately soothing. Try prune juice as well as the lactulose to get the bowels going. Good luck!!

Thanks for the replies. It's so sore. I am using the stuff I was prescribed but it doesn't have any pain relieving factor to it so the anusol stuff is providing more relief for the pain. However, nothing seems to be actually reducing the size of it. God I can't cope with it being there for another 7 weeks until baby comes out!

Have u tried vagasil?? I still stand by my ice suggestion ( worked well for me!!) but vagasil worked too!!!

I feel your pain as I had two at the end of my last pregnancy and laid on the bed in pain for days.

Go back to your doctor. I was originally given schreipriot but when I went back to say it wasn't working I was given ultraproct suppositories which fixed me in two days (luckily as I have birth 3 days later!). Gp was not fussed about giving while pregnant as it's very common.

Chunkymonkey123 · 27/09/2017 18:28

Def don't pop it! It won't work anyway as it's clots that need cutting out and then it needs packing with cotton. Surgery is an absolute last resort and is meant to be very painful.

Gizmo79 · 27/09/2017 18:31

Don't pop it!
It will either go by itself (mine did) or you will need it to be done surgically.
Just loads of numbing cream and try not to aggravate the area.
Loads of hi fibre and lactulose.
I feel for you, it was a special kind of post pregnancy joy for me that I could have lived without.

Sheriproct suppositories and ice packs. Use regularly and lie on the sofa rather than sitting up.

HopelesslyHopeful87 · 28/09/2017 09:41

Laying down is not an option. I work at a desk and I'm self employed so I'm working til the bitter end...

HopelesslyHopeful87 · 28/09/2017 12:05

Been to Dr. Nothing more I can have other than scheriproct. So I have the ointment and the suppositories. She said I can use anusol cream in between to make use of the pain relief side of it but not to use anusol suppositories. Nothing I can have while I'm still pregnant. AngrySad

Get some ice into it to shrink it. I had thrombosed pile after dd1 was born, I was given diclofenac to reduce the swelling. I don't know if there's any pile cream that has that in it?

Littlekezza · 28/09/2017 12:27

That's weird I'm a week overdue and was given uniriod he checked his book that I can actually have it it's got a local anaesthetic in it
