Hi all

Just wondering if anyone has booked a holiday and had to cancel due to being unable to fly as pregnant.

I am going through a fertility review at the moment and we are thinking about booking a holiday for next year for something to look forward to if it doesn't go to plan. But if (when) it does I am worried about loosing out money..

Thanks
Lx

Why would you not be able to go on holiday pregnant?

I would imagine that for an insurer to honour your claim you'd need evidence that you are unable to fly? Considering the fit to fly letters are only required at 28 weeks, are you planning a holiday more than 6 mos in advance?

Prior to that barring medical complications there shouldn't be any reason not to go on holiday. Being fat, uncomfortable, unable to sit in a long haul economy seat etc (all perfectly true) wouldn't count as valid reasons!

But with a time window greater than 6 mos most airlines and hotels would allow you to cancel / change the dates etc right?

I had to cancel a holiday I booked before I was pregnant. I was 18 weeks when I was due to go but on the day I was in hospital with hyperemesis. I had to retrospectively get a letter from my GP (£50) to confirm I was too ill to fly.

I can't see that pregnancy in itself would be considered a reason for a travel insurance claim, but if you had a complication that was severe enough to hospitalise you then maybe.

If I were you I'd continue TTC but book your holiday at the last minute nearer the time.

PS hopefully you won't get to go book the holiday as you'll be pregnant/have a newborn. Good luck Flowers

Why would someone insure you against something you are actively trying to achieve?
