Blood pressure and pre-labour

Hi ladies, just after a bit of advice/reassurance...

Had my 38 wk midwife appt really late (38+6), everything absolutely fine except MW said my blood pressure was a bit high and that she would re-check at the end of the appt. She forgot!

Now, I think it could have been on the high side because I've been having all sorts of pre-labour symptoms: loads of Braxton Hicks, horrendous round ligament pain as bad as a contraction (but nothing timeable), and very heavy period-like cramping that's been stop/start for the last week or so. I'm now 39+5.

Absolutely no other signs of pre-eclampsia or anything like that. I really don't want to have to go in until it's time and I feel like baby will be here any day now. Maybe even today Confused What do you think? TIA.

Could you ring your midwife and speak to her, maybe even just to get your blood pressure checked. I had high blood pressure at the end of both my pregnancies and had to been induced as if it had been left I would have had pre eclampsia. It's always better to be safe. Hope everything goes well for you! Flowers

Most doctors surgeries have a blood pressure machine in the waiting room, so you can go and check it without an appointment or phoning ahead. I'd do that

Thanks ladies, I might pop into my local pharmacy actually and see if they can just do it there, or failing that the GP. I'm at one of London's busiest hospitals so if I were to go in now it would be a case of being sent to the dreaded maternal assessment room and potentially waiting hours.
