HELP ME GIRLS!

I feel SOOOOOOOOOO sick! I can hardly move because i think im going to throw up.

I can only just about manage one slice of toast with butter to eat - havent had a proper meal since wednesday.

Do I need to take anything to make sure I am getting nutrients etc or will baby be ok on 3 slices of toast a day?!

You are not having twins are you?

Have you tried preggy pops - they are sweets meant to help. If you google them you will come up with an online shop to help. Also boots sell (they are expensive) folic acid with ginger extract that might help.

JARM · 06/04/2007 10:22

i hope not!

I cant believe i feel this sick and im not even quite 6 weeks yet.

4 under 4 would be a nightmare!

poor poor you - I am recently out the other side of this - It will end. Are you keeping fluids down? If not you should maybe see your GP and might need rehydrating in hospital. Baby will be fine - sickness is associated with good outcomes. Eat what will stay down.......

misdee · 06/04/2007 10:58

ginger ale.

misdee · 06/04/2007 11:01

eat and drink everything slowly. i also craved salty foods. avoid rice as its a bugger to throw back up.

compo · 06/04/2007 11:02

Oh my God, I didn't know you were pregnant!! Congratulations
Travel sickness bands worked for me, eating little and often and drinking squash instead of just water will give you a bit more energy. And lots of sleep at night if at all possible.

Miaou · 06/04/2007 11:03

Congratulations JARM!!!!

You have my total sympathy - I had m/s 24/7 with this one for months (sorry!!)

Although you don't feel like eating, you might find that food in your stomach helps to counteract the nausea - an empty stomach and low blood sugar will actually increase nausea.

I also found that different things worked at different points - so eating a handful of nuts and raisins was great for keeping nausea at bay for a couple of weeks - then all of a sudden it stopped working and I switched to something else.

Try to eat something just before you go to bed at night as that can help to counteract the severity of the first thing in the morning nausea too.

All the best!!

misdee · 06/04/2007 11:05

i also found icey cold water fantastic (i suffer morning sickness the whole 9 months).

can you put a bit of marmite on that toast?

Snarf02 · 06/04/2007 11:16

it will hopefully get better, i had ms all day from conception til 12/13 wks and was sick every mornign for 4 wks as well and thought it would never end but it did and now i feel lovely.

I ate small things every hour like crisps (at least 2 packets a day), crackets, crumpets, cheese on toast, biscuits and had really really small portions of breakfas,t lunch and dinner. My diet suffered so tried to have a smoothie a day if i could and tried to drink a small glass of milk.

I hope you feel better soon

Take care

patkica · 06/04/2007 12:18

Hi, if you keep feeling that sick, see the doctor. It could be hyperemsis which I had and which is chronic pregnancy sickness. Have a look at the Blooming awful site for information and advice. It will pass and the baby wil be fine. Being sick is actually a really good sign that the baby is healthy, but I found that didn't help me at the time. Good luck

JARM · 06/04/2007 12:19

thanks for the replies! I knew you lot would come to the rescue!

Will get some seabands tomorrow - our chemist is shut today and couldnt see them in Asda.

Went to asda and have stocked up on ginger biscuits and rich tea biscuits.

I have NEVER been like this with either of the girls, so its all a bit new!

Roll on December 1st lol

These have worked for me:
Sparkling water & M&S stem ginger cookies.
Slice of Soreen malt loaf with Dairylea cheese spread.
Banana.
Hope you feel better soon. I'm 11+2 and am feeling lots better already.

runnybumisnofun · 06/04/2007 14:22

The ONLY thing that worked for me - and I tried the lot - was acupuncture. I was like you and couldn't get out of bed for weeks as the overwhelming nausea was atrocious. At 5 months I had acupuncture (TCM) for 3 weeks in a row. It didn't rid me totally of the sickness but it mean't I could get out of bed and feel relatively able to function.
Next time I get pg I will have it form 6 weeks onwards. Good luck.

PurpleLostPrincess · 06/04/2007 14:40

Poor you, I too am on the other side of hyperemesis and I'm still having bad days. Hope it goes soon for you! Get to the GP to be tested for being dehydrated and try some jelly too - I keep telling people its great for ms but everybody is different.

donnie · 06/04/2007 14:45

I was sick as a dog for around 18 weeks with both pgs, then it reappeared for the last 4 weeks or so - really sorry to say this but NOTHING WORKED!!! there are certain things whcih help but nothing made me feel completely better. The wrist bands didn't work for me either!

sorry! ginger tea did help but in the end I was sick of it.(excuse pun)

JARM · 06/04/2007 18:32

Puke free day didnt happen!

Had a tiny amount of poached chicken, 1 mini corn on the cob and 2 florets of brocolli - followed by a banana - bowl has just let me see it all again for a second time!

Feel fine now though, its almost as if once ive been sick, all is good.

I cant cope with this for much longer - i know its only been a few days, but I am so ill all day, and then come 6pm I feel fine (once ive been sick)

ARGHHHHHHHH

JARM Love [hugs]

google blooming awful, then click on the self help tips on the menu. I sued to help with that organisation (I was a supporter and ran their info line for a bit) so if you need a chat do let me know- do you still have my e-mail?

Basically though, concentrate on the fluids as the baby will nick wahtever else it needs from you. Lack of fluids is what makes poeple ill (I ended up on a drip). Flat coke is supposed to be fab, melon, lettuce, ice pops, lucozade- try anything really.

Aprilmum2B · 06/04/2007 18:57

You have my sympathies! Been there, everyone tells you that it will get better - and it does i hope for you it is sooner rather than later. My top tips: Try and get plenty of rest, tiredness can make it worse, eat little and often (when can), sucking on ice pops can be a good way to get fluid down, do make sure you get monitered by GP - if you are not keeping fluids down you will get dehydrated and may as someone has already said, need rehydrating in hospital, Doc may discuss presribing anti sickness medication if symptoms continue. Sea bands and acupuncture didn't work for me, but listening to the 'Morningwell' CD (see National childbirth trust website)did help. Drinking flat coke and sipping ice cold water also helped when able.

JARM · 06/04/2007 19:42

thanks girls - peachey - will check it out.

What upsets me more is the girls seeing or hearing me be sick - poor things, and of course, maybe im weird, but everytime i am sick i cry like a baby!

Managed another piece of toast, but i cant live off that for the next god knows how long lol

Had melon at lunchtime and it stayed down, so will try that again tomorrow, and bought some ice pops at asda - they are in the freezer.

My word - anyone know of any links between MS and twins or boy/girl thing? Was NEVER this ill with the girls!

sockmonkey · 06/04/2007 19:53

Congratulations JARM. Sorry you are feeling so ill with it though.
I found nibbling all day helped me, when I let myself get hungry I was more sick.
It really is a horrible feeling, you have my sympathy.
I read somewhere that if you are lying down, pressing your belly button for a couple of mins helps too. I didn try it and was surprised that it worked quite well.
Sorry to hear your LOs are upset at hearing you be sick but my Dnephew used to try and slam the toilet lid shut on my sisters head when she had MS,be glad you have girls

PeachyChocolateEClair · 06/04/2007 20:36

er, first thing they di with DS1 when I was so sick was scan me for twins! Yes there's a link, sorry.

JARM · 07/04/2007 10:49

oh arse!!!

Thanks for the heads up on things though people, have decided to go to docs on Tuesday, and hopefully get an early scan if I can bluff about my dates lol
