Early PGP?

Hello ladies,

I'm about 9 weeks pregnant and started getting pain around my crotch and pubic bone earlier this week. No cramping, no bleeding, just discomfort. I went to the doctor as I was freaking the hell out (I had a miscarriage at 10 weeks earlier in the year, so it's a really difficult time for me at the moment anyway).

She thought it could be the beginnings of a UTI, but my hip* started hurting yesterday on and off and has cranked up the volume today - a lot. It's a hip I've had problems with in the past, but I also got hip pain from 7-8 weeks last time (had an ultrasound for tendonitis/bursitis after MC, but there was nothing there and had already started to resolve itself).

Anyway, consulting Dr Google, I've become more convinced that this is actually PGP. However, I also seem to be a bit early on to start developing it.

Anyone had any experience of PGP coming on in 1st trimester? Does it sound like PGP to those who have experienced it?

(*it varies between clearly my hip, i.e. on the side of my leg, and round the back on the bony bit just above my bum cheek)

I've got PGP and it really kicked in at 18w. However there were some early signs very early on as you've described.

I also had a lot of stretching pains in the first trimester and 'lightening crotch'. Sometimes would sneeze at night or roll over and have an excruciating electric pain feeling shoot down my groin.

Not sure if related but those stretching pains and early aches morphed into PGP for me. Hard to say if they were early signs or just one pregnancy PITA merging into another.

The literal pain in the bum is likely sciatic nerve pain, which was the first PGP related issue I had. Much later on my physio therapist did manipulation on the muscles and gave me exercises which totally got rid of that.

It wouldn't hurt to follow the steps the NHS suggest to ease PGP, like sitting down to get dressed and getting out of bed with your legs closed, so see if it helps.

I had this with all three of mine from day one. "Pants of pain" would be where I describe it..for me it manifested sacro/Illiac but my Dsis had it in her pubic bone. It is so sore and was exacerbated with pushing (lawnmower/Hoover/trolley) and getting in and out of bed. The Physio was able to DRASTICALLY help second time round by "opening up my sacrum" (ahem) and gave me strengthening exercises. Stupid gp and mw insisted it was the weight of the baby ("IT IS THE SIZE OF AN ORANGE PIP! It isn't the weight of he baby!!!")

Ps I went private with Physio as the NHS wait times are LONG and they are likely to just fob you off with a belt

I had back pain early on which progressed to pain in my thighs especially when I would sleep on my side at night. I'd say it started before my 12 week point. At 18 weeks had more pains in my hips and moving about. Now at 27 weeks everything hurts. Driving / sitting / standing Confused
Recommend a yoga ball it's helping to be fair :)

Could be. Ask to be referred to physio
