I had my DD in 3 years ago. She was undiagnosed breech and we didn't find out until I was already 5cm. We went with the midwife's advice and i delivered her vaginally. She was got stuck under my pubic bone so i had to have an opesiotimy and they ended up using forceps to prize her out. I literally blinked and the room went from just me, DH and 1 midwife to an additional 13 people with flashing lights and resus kit, making it a very traumatic experience for us!
Luckily for us we have happy, healthy 3 year old with no complications.
Anyway, I'm currently 30+1 with my second child, a little boy. He's been kicking away at the top of my stomach quite merrily until the other night. I had a crap nights sleep and my stomach felt different. Since then, the movemen has all been lower down- belly button or below. And I've not had any bellyshaking karate kicks up near my ribs like usual.
I'm now panicking that he's turned and I'm going to have another breech baby. I've already voiced this concern to my midwife (whos a bit crap) and she said she'd refer me for a scan at 38 weeks to double check if i was that bothered about it! Erm, yeah...just a bit bothered!
Has anyone had 2 breech pregnancies in a row? Or a breech then normal delivery?
Any ways to tell which way up he is? Midwives all said DD was head down right up until 5cm so I don't put much trust in them.
I know that they'll probably make me have a section if he's breech and i really dont want one. I so wanted a standard delivery this time!

Hi there, I know the concern. Both of my sons were transverse still about 36+ weeks - little buggers! But did finally go back around to their oroper positions. Since you're only 30 weeks then even if your little one is breech, there is almost no chance he will stay in that position until the end of pregnancy so I wouldn't worry at all. Also, any half decent midwife or doctor will be able to tell the position of your baby later on and help turn them if possible. I'd just relax and wait it out for a few more weeks before panicking!

If you feel he's breech he probably is. I would start having some acupuncture now. Obviously there are no guarantees but it worked for me (like magic!).

Otherwise they may suggest an ECV later on. As you know even if he is breech now that doesn't mean he won't spin on his own.

My 3 were breech, normal, breech. All 3 ended up being sections which were very straightforward to recover from. It's really hard to tell without a scan as heads and bums get confused!

To help my first turn, I was recommended some exercises from the spinning babies website. I did this one and it helped him move

There's also this one, but it's only recommended if you know your baby is breech
