I had a positive pregnancy test yesterday- what do I need to do next in terms of making a doctor/ midwife appointment etc? My ovia app is putting me at 4 weeks. Thank you very new to all this.

No help unfortunately but I was coming on to ask the exact same thing later, so thank you. Congratulations!

Contact your gp and they will contact the midwife and she will book you in for your first booking allotment.

Expectingbsbunumber2 · 21/09/2017 07:04

That should be appointment and I meant go into see you gp

First thing to do IMO is work out your due date then find the mumsnet thread with other people due in the same month.

The mumsnet antenatal groups I joined were an amazing source of support, information and also fun.

About booking in with your MW, call your GP, say you're pregnant and ask what you need to do. They will advise you to see the MW but when that is I forget now! I think different trusts may have different procedures anyway.

Mine booked me into see the MWs directly, no GP appointment needed.

And - congratulations!

Congratulations! It depends on your area. In my area you don't even speak to the GP just ring the midwife directly. Call your GP and ask what the procedure is

In our area you refer yourself online and they'll send you out a booking appointment for when you're around 12 weeks

It does seem to differ depending on your area. I just phoned my local surgery and they arranged a booking in appointment with the MW for me at 8 weeks, I didn't need to see a GP.

Thanks everyone I'm currently registered at a GP at my old address as my now local one wasn't accepting new people so I'm going to have to try and sort that out will give them a ring in the next few days Smile
