OK so I used to drink Alot of caffeine. Not coffee.. But coke..
When found out I was pg. I cut down to two cans a day and maybe a tea. Then decaf tea.
However I will admit.. And I hope I'm not the only one.. I have started Slipping back.. But didnt realise till I stopped at thought. So today has been 4 cans and a tea.
The other day it was lots of cuppas. As was visiting family so each time kettle on I kind of found myself saying, oh go on then to another Cuppa.
Be honest what's the damage it could cause. I'm 16 weeks.

I don't think there is a limit after the first trimester. I'd get some decaf in and slip in a few decaf teas to keep it moderate, but you shouldn't have done any harm :)

I could drink caffeine free coke. But no where local here sells it.. But when do main. Shop on Monday I'll get some in Tesco or something. I did buy decaf tea in Tesco express earlier tho
With DS 12 years ago. I didn't use the Internet etc so never knew this stuff and was never advised about caffeine.. As never saw same midwife twice! And I drank full sugar caffeine coke. As in 12 cans a day. DS was born fine and healthy weight, However now I know it shouldn't of been the case that I drank that much.

While overdosing is probably not a good idea- ifnothing else you
Could be eating something that adds nutrition, there is no clear indication caffeine harms at all. Hence I think it's a 200mg daily cap in first trimester only on the NHS (I think the connection isn't clear at all because while higher caffeine intake first trimester is correlated with less good outcomes, this could be just because morning sickness is correlated with better outcomes and women with morning sickness are drinking less caffeine.)

The Coke website says a can has 32mg of caffeine in it, so 4 cans a day is only 128mg. The NHS recommendation is under 200mg on average a day (doesn't mean you can't go over some days, just on average over the course of your pregnancy). A tea has about another 30-60mg depending on how strong you make it. So I'd say that sounds fine. On average I drink 1-2 cups of strong coffee a day (I would guess about 100mg each). Last week I was especially busy with work so was having 3 cups some days. But I don't have that every day and on average I fall around 200mg or less most days. I think totally fine. The research on caffeine doesn't show any serious effects until you start having serious amounts of caffeine (about 5-9 cups of coffee a day). So I would try not to worry about it. Actually, the only thing I would worry about is that coke can block absorption of some key vitamins and minerals you need in pregnancy and it also has loads of sugar. I'd be concerned about that, but not the caffeine because there's really very little.

I really recommend the book 'expecting better'. I got it after many people recommended it to me and I'm glad I did.

Cutting a long story short, in your second trimester you be fine with the amount you're drinking now but try not to overdo it more than that.
