How long to leave between testing? positive and negatives tests in early pregnancy

Hi, we are trying for our first frist baby and 6 days ago I got a faint second line, which was almost 4 weeks after my last period. I have been tired and experience lots of headaches, more than usual and feeling cramp and nauseous. The doctor advised me to leave things about a week. Last night I got a negative test and started bleeding brown and ligh stuff and this morning it's cramps and like a normal period but another clear blue test showed positive 1-2 weeks. I am confused and don't want to get my hopes up but I'd love advice on other experiences at this stage and how long I should leave between testing? I have read this could be a chemical pregnancy. Thanks in advance.

I have no experience to help you as I've only just started TTC but I've heard that brown discharge can just be old blood from implantation and you should only be concerned with bright red bleeding.
Hopefully someone with more experience can answer too

Thanks! I appreciate your reply. It has turned bright red today and is very like my normal period.

It sounds like a possible chemical pregnancy sorry, I had this in my first month of TTC. You could test again in a few days to a week to be sure x

I'm sorry that you're going through this uncertainty. It does sound like it might be a chemical pregnancy.

I tested every day when I first found out. I got my first positive at 11 days post ovulation. Usually a positive test means you are pregnant (it's very rare to get false positives) but the fact that you'I've started bleeding may not be a good sign. Your pregnancy hormones are most concentrated in your first morning urine so I have always tested then. Some tests are more sensitive than others too which could explain why some are saying positive and some are not.

I think unfortunately you're going to have to just wait to see what happens with the bleeding. Keep testing in the morning. You can always just use the cheap Amazon tests, although they are nowhere near as sensitive as the first response ones, which are the best I'm my opinion.

I hope it turns out well for you.

Thanks both for your responses. And for recommending the best test. I will wait and see how long the bleeding lasts and test again. I'll be gutted but will keep trying x
