I'm currently 41 + 3 and am due to be induced in the morning at 8.30am. I'm really nervous (FTM) and could do with some positive induction stories. Anyone?!

The result of my induction of labour turns 21 tomorrow. My memory of it is a bit hazy tbh but I can tell you that it'll all be worth it in the end. Best of luck Flowers

best advice I think I can give is to try and get a good nights sleep tonight, and be prepared for a long induction process. A book, magazines, iPad, anything to keep you entertained whilst in hospital in the early stages of induction.

I was induced with DS after my waters broke the morning before and labour didn't start. It was absolutely fine but things did progress super quickly once the drugs got going! My advice is don't be afraid to go in early with decent pain relief as i definitely needed it and wish I hadn't waited so long to get it - I would have enjoyed myself a lot more! And as Madame said, it'll be worth it in the end so try and keep focused on the end goal and roll with things as they happen. DS is now 8 months and asleep on my lap and I would totally go through it again for him Smile Good luck and hope it all goes well!

Try and get a good nights sleep.

I was induced with 2nd, I got myself worked up night before.

I went in morning like you and get one pessary, I found that quite uncomfortable but contractions started not long after, baby was born few hours after.

Good luck op, try relax. Hopefully not too long you will have your baby in your arms 🙂

I got myself all ready for the long haul. Midwife even said it would likely be a few days because my cervix wasn't ready.
Active labour 10 hours after first pessary went in and was holding my son 5 hours 38 minutes later. Midwife who did the pessary was well and truly shocked when she came in the day after

Good luck. You hear a lot of horror stories but I bet there are more positive stories than negative.

Mine was a long one ending in emcs ( which was lovely by the way!), and very positive as we have our beautiful dd.
Take lots of snacks and things to do.
And good luck! How exciting!

I was induced and it was a breeze. 10 hours start to finish. There do seem to be a million horror stories out there but having posted similar to this on a FB pregnancy forum and asking for only positive responses, I received hundreds of replies.
Best of luck OP. Your precious bundle will be with you so soon!

Prepare yourself for a long wait.

It may well be over and done with in a few hours, but it can literally take a few days as well. Especially if the hospital is busy with emergencies or spontaneous labours.

Good luck!

Thank you!! Very positive stories and have made me feel loads better. I woke up every hour so I'm quite tired which is frustrating but I'm nursing a coffee before we leave for the hospital x

I was induced and my ds arrived 10 hours later. I had a very positive experience. Wishing you lots of luck! Keep us posted!

I was being induced in 39 + 6 week. I was got brownish discharge in the morning. Doctors said to admit me in hospital at the same night. I was afraid of heavy bleeding. But all went to normal whole the day. No pain no bleeding. At night, I shifted to hospital. They done my blood tests. Midnight, I started to feel labor pain. It was so minimum that I thought It's some back pain. I didn't call to doctor or midwife. I was somehow uncomfortable. I was waiting for morning to tell my midwife. In morning, they told me to shift to labor room. They waited for an hour if I could delivery normal. But it was not possible. Finally they did it by c-section.

Good luck. I was induced. I had the pessary at 17.30, pains started at 22.00. Waters broke at 23.00 and my dd was born at 03.00. It's not always the long and drawn out process people say it is. When I was examined when they were putting the pessary in they said my cervix was not open at all and warned me it would be a long process. I'd sent my partner home.

asongforthelovers · 19/09/2017 07:06

How are you getting on op, hope everything went well?

KellyMarieTunstall2 · 19/09/2017 08:27

I was induced 2 years ago, it took 24 hours and I went through all the stages, pessary, rupture if membranes and drip. I did have an epidural once the drip was started and had a normal vaginal delivery without intervention. During the process, we went out for lunch, had a nice room with a pool. It was a good experience and I felt very taken care of. Good luck today, you'll soon have a baby!

I hope you're cuddling a lovely little bundle of squishy right now, OP!
