Anyone else had low PAPP-a hormone?

Just curious about what to expect in terms of additional monitoring [if any!].

Had the Harmony test recently at Fetal Medical Centre - they were brilliant - but flagged up that the average marker for PAPP-a hormone is 1 and mine was 0.24 something so obviously quite low. She said it's probably already noted by NHS on my screening results but to talk to my midwife about it as it might make the pregnancy higher risk as can sometimes be indicative of growth issues in the third trimester.

I did google initially then stopped because it was slightly terrifying and the specialist at the clinic said she can't see anything to worry about from everything she's seen [did a thorough scan too] so I'm staying away.
Thought it might be better to ask on here just to get a clearer picture of what the extra monitoring might entail and if anyone had this and had growth issues/preterm labour?

Thanks! :)

Hiya my PAPP-a was about the same as yours. I was told to take baby aspirin every day. I was warned that there was a risk of pre term labour and that I probably wouldn't get to my due date.

I had loads of scans! Atleast 10. One was to check the blood flow from the placenta and to. The rest were all growth scans. Got to see baby lots which was nice. I was under consultant care until 38 weeks then signed off to midwife care.

The outcome for me was absolutely fine. My lo was born 41+1! So was late. Was a normal birth weight too.

I have a similar papp-A reading as yours which I didn't have in my first two pregnancies. I have been diagnosed with IUGR and have scans every two weeks. My baby is currently on the 6th centile - am 32 weeks and as long as she keeps growing then shouldn't be a problem.

I didn't have IUGR in my first two pregnancies so it sounds like it is related to the low Papp-A levels.

Just incase anyone comes across this thread looking for answers to the same question, I thought I would update. I spoke to the screening midwife at my hospital today and she was really helpful - she requested I send a copy of the scanned report across to her via email and said she would check it against the NHS screening blood levels then speak to the fetal medicine consultant and come back to me.
She emailed back within the hour saying she had spoken to the consultant who had suggested an additional scan at 28 weeks, followed by a consultant appointment immediately after to review the scan and discuss a plan of action, if needed, depending on the outcome of the scan [ie whether growth is progressing as it should]. She said it should be highlighted on my notes on the system but to mention it to my midwife at the 16 week appointment in a few weeks all the same.

So just incase anyone has just got the result and isn't sure what to make of it/what to do, I would definitely suggest getting in touch with someone at your antenatal clinic/dept if you can't get hold of your own midwife. They are going to book me in for the additional scan now and send me a letter.

Although I know this won't change the outcome, I feel better knowing it's been noted and a plan of action put in place, and that they're obviously not too worried at the moment. I'm going to see how my 16 week appointment goes and if I'm worried book a private reassurance scan at 17 weeks.

Hope this helps if anyone is reading and I will hopefully update as I go along.
