Is it me or is symptom spotting for labour worse than ttc??

I'm 39+4 now with DC2. I've had twinges / braxton hicks etc on and off since 35 + 3. Also DD1 was born at 39+3.

It seems like every little thing that happens to me now I'm like "does this mean labour is soon?" - I'm starting to drive myself insane!!

To avoid early induction due to high bp.

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 18/09/2017 21:00

mummabubs maybe it only regenerates if you lose mucous plug early on (mine started coming away in bits at like 36/37 weeks). Maybe if you lose it late on it doesn't regenerate?? Not sure. I never noticed losing my plug with DD1 so it must have come away with my waters or something.

Hope your BP isn't too high lubyloo

Can I join to! I'm 37+3 I'm so fed up, I haven't stopped crying today.
Also suffering with spd and low iron so feeling really drained.
I have a section booked for next Thursday but I'd love to go naturally before hand.
Baby has dropped and I have a lot of pressure but who knows Sad

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 18/09/2017 22:02

Hey rogl - I've had lots of pressure etc too. Nothing yet Sad

Are you having a section because of the SPD?

Decided against watching a weepy. Been watching live at the apollo instead. I'm scared if I start crying I won't be able to stop. You want to know why I was crying earlier?? I was listening to an audiobook and the protagonists split up - it was a fairly standard happily ever after romance (easy listening while doing housework) so it was obvious that they would be getting back together, but I just started sobbing at the kitchen table!!

I had an emcs last time with some complications so they don't want me going past 39weeks

I'm trying to take comfort in the fact I have a clear end date but it's just making my count down the days, hours and minutes!

Apparently a good cry can induce labour (something about releasing oxytocin) but I'm 99.9% sure that that's a load of bs since I haven't stopped bloody crying and still no baby!

ememem84 · 19/09/2017 07:26

Going to midwife today for my 38 week apt. 38+5 today.

Sigh. I'm feeling a lot of pressure so hoping that's a good sign. Also feeling um "damper" but I know it's just increase in mucus etc nothing else. sorry if tmi

And I have a bit of a cold. So sneezing without peeing is my days goal haha!

asongforthelovers · 19/09/2017 07:42

I have got the cold too @ememem84!! I have the absolute fear when I have to sneeze, the pain and cracking of my bones down below every time 😰

TheLegendOfBeans · 19/09/2017 07:50

I'm in the same boat as you @rogl but nobody's seemingly telling me what my actual CS date will be; three appts this week to have the same conversation is making me both worn out and angry.

I'm 36 weeks today and body is behaving so differently to last time. Baby is super high up; I feel so sick and I'm just desperate to meet him. I'm so scared if something going wrong at this late stage. My fears last night were about mevonium in the waters poisoning him before week 39.

I also feel like a shit parent to DD right now. I wish 19mo olds could tell you exactly what they want, when and how.

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 19/09/2017 09:05

You know what, I don't think anyone really knows what starts labour off. It's all guesswork lol.
If we knew then no-one would go over would they?!

And all these 'signs that labour is imminent' - well it seems they mean labour could be 2 days or 5 weeks away. Should just call them third trimester symptoms really!!

Im twitching at everything. This is my first so no idea what's normal or not...I've been ok up until about a week ago when midwife said things could happen at anytime.

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 19/09/2017 09:49

39 + 6 today

I reported a minor loss of fluid at 38 weeks em - was worried waters wee trickling. Nope. Midwife classed it as hormonal discharge as my body 'gets ready'. I just wear pads all the time now.

Sympathies for those with colds. I had a horrible one a month or so ago. The pain in my hips and bump every time I coughed or sneezed was horrendous.

I hope you get a date for your section soon legend

I had no symptoms in run up to birth of DD (that I recall) but have had symptoms with this one since 35 weeks. Not helpful lol

Sorry to hear everyone's feeling so rotten. I've been completely insomniac the last few nights so shattered now. I was up at 3 this morning with splitting headache and vomiting so convicted myself I had preeclampsia. Luckily I had my 38 week apt this morning and blood pressure low so not concerned although possible UTI so sent wee off for checking. Midwife said head is right down now so hoping it's not too long and had booked me in for next week rather than 2 weeks due to headache. I've been rushing round keeping active to try and encourage baby out but she's told me to rest up today to get some energy back for labour due to lack of sleep. I asked if she believed any of the myths worked and she said in her experience the only things that have merit are things that irritate the bowel - curry, pineapple, grapefruit juice - but it's all anecdotal and your body has to be ready for labour anyway.

rogl · 19/09/2017 11:03

Thelegend hopefully you get a date soon, I've only had mine a week and a half. My consultant said they're quite reluctant to do it before 39 weeks if they can help it.

There seems to be a nasty cold going round at the moment, I hope no one else catches it

ememem84 · 19/09/2017 15:36

Appointment went ok. Although I have just established that black jeans are the way forwards from now on tmi again leakage whilst out midwife has said it's totally normal. May have to get some Tena lady's. God dammit.

Stickaforkinimdone · 19/09/2017 16:20

Can I join in please?!
I'm 38+3 with dc2 and am sooooo over this now 😩 my DS arrived at 39+3 so I have everything crossed that this one will come out in the next week...or actually in the next 24hrs would be awesome

Feel like I've been in pre labour for about a week-getting really heavy discharge and constantly feeling damp (thank god for Tena!) , I can't sleep, BHs have ramped up and everything is just so sore and aching

I'm ready for you baby please please please come out!!

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 20/09/2017 00:58

It's my due date. 55 mins in and I think my waters have just gone. Well hind waters at least. Just woke up and definitely felt a tiny pop (like a bubble bursting) before a little trickle of fluid ....

Congrats coldfeet I hope your managing some sleep before contractions start Flowers

asongforthelovers · 20/09/2017 05:42

Ahh good luck 😁

silkybear · 20/09/2017 06:03

good luck Coldfeet! Just joining the thread 38+2 with dc 2. Dd was a 42 weeker but I can't imagine another 4 weeks of being so grumpy and huge. I have developed carpal tunnel in both hands so sleep isnt happening, pins and needles in hands and restless legs, feel like i need to escape my own body. had period pains overnight and brax hicks but I know I had at least a week of that before DD so not expecting much. good luck everyone Flowers

dippypanda · 20/09/2017 08:26

Good luck @ColdFeetWarmHeart!!
It's my due date today as well, though I'm being induced tomorrow but would love to start labour naturally!

Keep us posted Flowers
