Absolutely nothing happening today - Thursday was the due date I originally calculated so we will see how things go.

Worth knowing there are different types of induction. My friend (who is very anti intervention) just had a pessary and said it was a really positive experience. That is what I am booked in for atm. If that doesn't work then they will try again with a gel and finally, the last option will be the IV induction. I think it is the IV which has the reputation for a quicker/stronger/shorter labour but another friend just had this and opted to have an epidural at the same time and again said she was happy with how things went so hopefully it can work well.

@user1471495191 gosh you know so much. The different inductions haven't been explained to me, maybe they'll do tjat on the day?! is it a choice.. or will thry coose for me because im classed as high risk? We are having conversations on two different posts, so i've asked how u are getting on thrn saw this msg lol.

Haha - yes, I had to double check when I saw your last message on the other thread Grin

Didn't know anything much about induction until the last couple of weeks. Just so happens the two friends have just been through it, so I quizzed them on what to expect. The first, like I said is very anti-intervention, so she really pushed and found out all her options. As a result, I asked my MW the other day, and she ended up booking me in, but I don't think she would have offered any info or raised the subject unless I'd have asked. My labour started naturally last time so there was no need to discuss induction options that time. Definitely worth talking through options at one of your later appts, my friend left it to 42wks and then discovered her options were limited as a result and she had to fight for a non IV option (which luckily worked).
I think you should have the same options, although they might go straight for the IV if there are concerns over your heart. Don't be afraid to ask!

Ps. You can just call me user if you like - I won't take offence! Smile I did used to have a proper name but was outed (along with my password) as a result of the big hacking incident so feel more comfortable being less identifiable (especially since all the tabloids started lifting stories straight off the boards!)

Hi everyone, I'm currently going to be on day 3 of induction. Day 1 was the tampon pessary, it gave me really intense back contractions for 24 hours but only dilated me until 2cm Sad (i was 1 to start off with) so I was given a rest day and told to stay in the hospital, pains continued until around 4pm and then tailed off completely. I'm due another internal exam in the morning to assess where my cervix is at. If they can break my waters they will but if not I will be given the pessary gel and we go again. So let's see! I'm tired and miss my bed and just want my baby here now but fighting to keep my spirits up as it's no good being a Debbie downer on myself x

Hi poppy - how many wks/days pregnant are you? Is this your first baby? I remember being exhausted the first time round after 4 days of stop/start contractions. At least you know the end is in sight, and one way or another your baby will be here soon. Hoping things kick properly in soon and you suddenly find yourself well on the way to fully dilated, I found the early stages the slowest and most frustrating! Hang in there!

user1471495191 · 20/09/2017 04:48

Ps. What pain relief do you have? Do you have a tens machine and have you tried a birthing ball?

PoppyH56 · 20/09/2017 06:30

I'm 41 + 6 today, started induction at 41+4. I'm managing the contractions well with painkillers, ball and back massages from a very cooperative OH but I expect it's going to be ramped up today as they either break my waters/give me the gel. At least I know my baby will be here before the weekend! Just trying to keep myself positive. I also haven't showered since Monday morning so I'm going to sneak off as soon as they let me off this monitor and have a wash haha xx

PoppyH56 · 20/09/2017 06:31

What's your induction story @user1471495191? You say it took 4 days so I'm interested to see if it pans out like mine! X

Lozmatoz · 20/09/2017 07:08

Good luck everyone! With my first I was induced with the pessary. Took under 24 hours to the birth. I was 41+11. It was a perfectly normal labour after, had gas and air. You can still use the birthing pool, walk around etc. I believe if it doesn't work, you move on to the drip which is more tying.

user1471495191 · 20/09/2017 10:03

Good luck poppy - I wasn't induced with my first, just a very long, drawn out natural start to labour. This time (DC2) I am currently 40+6, with no sign of labour starting (cervix still too high even to reach with a finger). I am therefore provisionally booked in for a pessary next Tuesday (when I will be 41+5). MW said this would be followed by the gel, then IV if the first attempts aren't successful...hope you are having newborn snuggles very soon!

How is everyone doing? Still no sign of anything happening here, but thanks to a new godsend alarm clock, our toddler DD let me lie in. We have been baking Smile
