How many of you, in retrospect *knew* you were pregnant almost immediately after conception?

Just idle curiousity....

I definitely knew two days after conception, just felt sort of wetter and slightly elated. Am I weird and unusual? Started vomiting at 10 days past ovulation as well

Not a clue with DD but knew the next day with DS, very strange feeling of just somehow knowing.

LedodgyCheapEasterEggsAreASin · 04/04/2007 23:46

With dd (my first) I felt strange to say the least rather like I was due on but very bloated. i remember very clearly I got the bus to work got off at my usual bus stop and burst into tears for no reason my friend from work found me in tears it was very surreal as the queen was visiting Liverpool that day at that time and I found myself near the barriers walking to work next to the queen. I thought I was sad because it was coming up to the anniversary of my mum's death got sent home from work but got a pregnancy test on the way back and it was positive. With ds only 7 days after ovulation I had very slight spotting and didn't feel with it at all I felt faint and panicky just not right at all. I took a pregnancy test strangely a year to the day I had miscarried the year before and got a positive result!

tinkerbellhadpiles · 05/04/2007 10:49

Oh thank goodness it's not just me, my GP thought I was mad when I turned up at the surgery five days after ovulation and said 'I think I'm pregnant'. She refused to test me but two days later I went back with my little stick and then she had to take me seriously

Of course she poo-poohed it and said 'well don't count your chickens yet, it may not last' (nasty horrible thing to say!)

My DD (six months) is gurgling at me so yes in this case it did.

I also had a previous MC and it felt totally different, didn't feel pregnant at all, felt ill but not that sort of elated feeling.

Next day with DD (no 2). Had no reason to suspect I would be as we'd only just started 'trying' (hate using that word). But I just knew. We were out with some friends who had 2 boys very near in age and I asked her about double buggies. She asked me if I was pregnant again and I just said we were thinking about it but I knew that I was already.

OrmIrian · 05/04/2007 10:53

Might add that with nos 1 & 3 I hadn't a clue!

TeeCee · 05/04/2007 10:55

With DD1 - knew absolutley. Felt something almost a physical thing, like a pop, and I lay there and thought 'i've just conceived'.

No 2 - didn't have a clue.

no 3 - DP swears he knows the moment it happened.

with first 2 i had no idea.
with ds2 i knew straight away!dont know how!tests said negative but i waited did more and eventually one said yes!apparently i was only just pregnant and tests werent picking it up!

lizziemun · 05/04/2007 11:51

No with dd my first i hadn't had a af for 6 mths, so was quite surprised when i found i was and about 9 weeks .

With my second i had a fair idea, but sadly that ended in a miscarriage at 8 weeks.

Again with this one no again i was already 9 weeks gone when i found out, only tested because dh insisted i did a test.

yomellamoHelly · 05/04/2007 12:21

I didn't, but dh did (with ds1). Apparently I was bending over to get something and he thought my waist was thicker than normal. 2 weeks later (1 after af die) told him to hear him say "I knew it!"
With ds2 we'd been trying so long neither of us speculated whether I might be or not to avoid the repeated disappointment.

tinasparkle79 · 05/04/2007 12:30

I didn't but DH was adamant. I was late and I thought it was my body withdrawing from the pill - how wrong was I. I had loads of symptoms - sore, massive boobs, spots etc. I think I was in denial. I was expecting a few more months trying.

flightattendant · 05/04/2007 12:30

With DS#1 I kinda had a feeling, only because I knew we DTD on the night I ovulated, and we were usually careful.
DS#2, I didn't expect it as had been hoping for a few months, to no avail - but the timing was better this time so I kinda had a clue.
Saying that, I really thought - or convinced myself - that af was coming, as I had such bad period pains. Couldn't believe the test!!

flightattendant · 05/04/2007 12:32

Forgot to say with DS#1, I went out that morning on my motorcycle (a couple hours after DTD) and saw three magpies fly across the road. At that moment I thought, 'I'm having a girl!'
But one must have been hiding somewhere nearby as it sure ain't a girl... (you know the rhyme?)

purplemonkeydishwasher · 05/04/2007 12:38

both DH and I knew IMMEDIATELY that we had made a baby. it was very weird. but we just kind of looked at each other and knew (then promptly forgot until i was late!!)

Anna8888 · 05/04/2007 12:51

I could feel the implantation - small recurrent pains in my uterus. Well before my period was due.

RedFraggle · 05/04/2007 12:53

I knew after a couple of days with dd, even when the pg test said negative (I am very irregular so had to keep testing randomly!) I was still convinced I was. Had a metallic taste in my mouth and felt different. With current pg had absolutely no idea.

fuzzywuzzy · 05/04/2007 13:01

with dd2 I knew, and I told dh I was as well.

michaelad · 05/04/2007 13:03

I almost knew as soon as it had happened. Don't know why..maybe it was because it only took 1 attempt at conceiving ds1. But I remember thinking afterwards "Bet I'm pregnant again now"

OrmIrian · 05/04/2007 13:05

And on slight tangent...the landlady of my local told me I was pregnant the first time round weeks before I knew it.

"Nope...definitely not. Can't be." I replied through the beer fumes and clouds of fag smoke.....

nh101 · 05/04/2007 13:23

No it was a massive surprise when got BFP even though we were trying! (Didn't think it would happen that quick)

marieg76 · 05/04/2007 13:44

Well we finally realised that you had to try at certain times of the month. I guess we had paid too much attention at school during sex ed lessons and thought that even looking at a boy without protection would get you pregnant!

First time we tried at the right time of the month, I was pretty sure. A week later, my boobs were very sore but it wasn't just that, I somehow... knew. When I did the test, I didn't even really need to look at the result.

MrsMar · 05/04/2007 13:59

I knew about 3 days after ov, I had really strong implantation pains. I didn't dare think about it though until I was 3 days late.

clairemow · 05/04/2007 14:03

me. Had very dizzy spell and stomach cramp on day 14 of v. regular cycle. DS now nearly 3.

LieselVentouse · 05/04/2007 14:34

Yes but I had been wrong a couple of times before
