Slings / Carriers for Bad Shoulders

Looking for recommendations for a sling/carrier which doesn't put all the babies weight on the shoulders.

I've been using a Close Caboo for about a week but my neck/shoulder has gone into spasm, it's an existing medical condition but I think the sling has exasperated the problem. I'm not going to be able to continue to use the Caboo as baby is only 10lb 11oz at the moment so has a lot more weight to put on!!

Therefore might as well invest in a better carrier which distributes the weight and will last the distance. I will see if my local sling library have them before I buy but would like to go along with an idea of what to go for therefore looking for recommendations!

TIA

Ergobaby is really good, especially when baby is on your back - the waist strap is really wide and takes lots of strain, but I think your dc is still too little for that.
However I did find any of the carriers I tried were hideously uncomfortable to wear when dd was on my front.

Try a boba. They have an infant insert. We used one from 18 months to 3 and was very comfy in front then on back when baby is bigger. We now have a toddler tula which is also very comfy with our 4 year old. We prefer the more structured carriers as you get lots more support for your back rather than the connecta type carriers.

I have a sore shoulder that plays up and the connecta has been fab, hasn't hurt at all. I still (rarely) carry my 20 month ds in it and it's still ok now. If you can try a sling library that would be ideal though.

Agree with Red, go to a sling library. They will advise and let you borrow them.

I'd recommend the ergobaby - suitable from birth with the infant insert. Very comfortable, can be bunged in the washing machine when it gets grubby and we're still using ours every day at 14 months even with my shoulder problems.

I used an ergo everyday for about two years with my eldest. The waistband is really strong and takes so much of the weight.

This time, I bought a sleepy nico. I love it more, it's slightly less bulky and still spreads weight out really well. You must make sure that your buckle carrier is correctly positioned, or you will pull on your shoulder - just work on getting the straps tight in the right places. I agree that a sling library/consultation should help you choose something that will last a good while.
