Just to let you all know, at my 12w scan the sonographer told me rather conclusively that I was having a girl. The nub looked very much like a girl nub and that was what she was basing it on. The line was clear, straight and ran parallel with the spine. The sonographer's also made me think that there's a genuine medical basis for the nub theory because even she was using it as a trained professional! DP and I therefore left the scan convinced we were having a girl and have pretty much spent the last 8 weeks deciding on names and referring to baby as she.
Yesterday we had our 20 week scan. I told the sonographer that we had already been told the gender. Her gaze moved from the screen onto my face very quickly and she didn't look too pleased. She asked us what we'd been told and if we wanted to know. When I told her we were told baby was a girl she said "well it definitely isn't a girl because that is a penis right there".
It was quite difficult to get my head round at first but I'm over it now. DP struggled more than me I think. This baby is my second and I already have a DD however this baby is my DP first. Everyone said he would have a girl. He is the kind of soft and gentle man you can imagine having a little girl hanging off his shoulders. I think he got so used to the idea of having a girl and began to soften even more to the idea only to find out it's a boy!
We're of course thrilled to be having a baby and a heathy one at that. Just thought I'd let you all know that despite what people say or think - it's best to wait till 20w or if you can get a harmony test as it's not very nice to be told one thing and then another.
