Sleepyhead Bedding

I have brought a Sleepyhead and a snuzpod and wondered if anyone can help with bedding? Do I put a sheet on the snuzpod then the Sleepyhead? Would you out a muslin on the Sleepy head as well to help keep that clean? Or a sheet over that as well?

I stuck a muslin and sheet over the sleepyhead as the covers are pricy! Worked fine. Just used normal crib sheets and put one on the Snuzpod mattress too.

You aren't supposed to put covers over the sleepyhead as you will affect the 'breathability' and it being suitable for safe sleeping.

DebsOctBaby · 15/09/2017 21:54

Great, I was thinking the same, basically cover everything! Thank you!

As long as you are aware it goes against safe sleep guidelines.

Your post was after I put mine on, that's good to know, thanks. I hadn't thought about having to buy more covers for the Sleepy head cause of the price but I will buy a couple of spares

Just buy one spare and wash one - you can get them from Amazon prime so a third one is only a day away if you need it.

If you use a baby sleeping bag the only part of the baby touching the sleepyhead is the back of their head so as long as you don't have a refluxy baby you won't need to wash it lots anyway.

DebsOctBaby · 16/09/2017 07:56

Thank you, I will buy a spare and keep fingers crossed. Can't use a sleeping bag for some time as my baby is premature and will be home weighing 4lb and they recommend not using bags on really small babies. She isn't too sicky so hopefully it won't be too much of a problem.

Our baby was 4lb too, they look so tiny in the sleepyheads at that size 😂

I got some 'posh' burp cloths from Etsy, they're cotton tops with fleece underneath, and used them under the babies head as a scent pillow. He'd had them in the SCBU so was easy for him to get used to the new bed and helps settle him. (I keep a spare one inside my pillowcase so if he sicks-up in the night I can replace it) it means I don't have to clean the sleepyhead cover so much. I have a spare but only use it occasionally.

I've had a sleepyhead for 3.5months and only needs washing ocassionally and dries pretty quickly in the right circumstances... put a folded muslin under the muslin if you want. We never bought a second cover as they are expensive.

Initially we used cellular blankets over the sleepyhead and tucked under and now we use sleeping bags.

Hi, Another NICU/SCBU mum with a Sleepyhead. Mine was 4lbs when he came home and settled into the Sleepyhead really well. I just put a small muslin under his head. Btw, the Close Caboo is a great sling for small preemies. I used it from 4lbs and he was so snug on the school run.

Spam88 · 16/09/2017 20:03

I used extra large muslins to totally cover ours, and tucked in underneath so she couldn't end up with it over her face 🙄 muslins seem pretty breathable to me so I figured it was fine in that respect.

My d's either weed or commend on his sleepyhead every single sleep for ages. We ended up putting maternity mats (those absorbent mat things for when your waters break) on his sleepy head, that way we could just change them rather than the sleepy head cover. I know it would have affected the breathability but by this point we knew he only slept on his back and physically couldn't roll over so we decided there was no risk.

Hummingbird15 · 17/09/2017 06:55

Sorry that should have been vomited not commend!

Spam88 · 17/09/2017 08:42

I think the breathability is more about keeping them cool that a suffocation risk at that age.

DebsOctBaby · 17/09/2017 20:43

Thanks all, really helpful so appreciate them x

I bought a spare cover. I put a muslin cloth underneath but it doesn't cover the sides or effect his breathing.
