Exactly that!

37 weeks on Saturday and not slept properly this full pregnancy. Just woke up with severe back pain, shoulder pain, rib pain and sore vag.

I so can't wait to feel normal again 😰

So grim. Hope you're not waiting too long!

NewTownVelocity · 15/09/2017 01:55

I hate to break it to you, but you won't sleep properly again for the next two years...

Topseyt · 15/09/2017 02:05

I am sorry you are feeling so grim.

With regard to sleep, I hope you have an obliging baby. Be prepared though. They take time to learn the difference between night and day, and need fed at intervals throughout the night too.

YokoReturns · 15/09/2017 02:42

Babies tend not to sleep through the night so be prepared to sleep in chunks, too!

I co-slept with both of mine just to get sleep. They are both currently in my bed (2.41am!!).

Cheesenacho123 · 15/09/2017 02:44

Unfortunately it'll be a few more months before you get sleep and feel normal again. Sorry. I wouldn't say 2years, every baby is different. Mine slept through at 5 months. I thought I'd never see any time to myself again then bam it just happened and we are now at the 10 month mark and I'm happily back at work with evenings off to myself.

Only1scoop · 15/09/2017 02:46

It's amazing Op

And being able to sleep on your front again

verysleepymum · 15/09/2017 02:51

Last trimester is tough! I had to sleep upright!

When the baby is here you will be comfortable enough to sleep but probably won't be allowed by baby for more than 2 hours in a row for the first few weeks. Unless you bottle feed/express and someone else can do night feeds of course!

The huge benefit of having the baby over being preggo is you can hand said baby to someone else if it gets too much, can't do that while pregnant!

Good Luck!

Lelly0503 · 15/09/2017 05:55

Ahh I know this feeling and yes you don't get any sleep (I have a 7 day old) the chunks you do get are just blissful. You can sleep on your back again!! On your front! You wee like a normal person. Hopefully not much longer for you xxx

BillBrysonsBeard · 15/09/2017 06:05

I felt the the same as you OP, and yes it was bliss maybe two weeks after my section. Me and DP alternated the night shift with baby so every other night I got a long sleep completely uninterrupted. It really helped me recover. If you have that option then take it!

MrsLilymunster · 15/09/2017 06:19

I was similar during pregnancy, heart burn so bad I was up vomiting every night! I'm glad that's gone but. .. you will not be getting a good night's sleep for a while! First night after birth I slept 30 minutes, it does get better though; just be prepared it'll be in small chunks!! Xxxx

Oysterbabe · 15/09/2017 07:15

I haven't really slept since the summer of 2015, before I was too heavily pregnant with DD. She still doesn't sleep at 20 months and #2 due in December. I'm expecting to get some sleep around Spring 2020.

asongforthelovers · 15/09/2017 08:01

Haha, I have 2 children already. Hopefully baby no.3 likes their sleep like the other two.

I must admit, I don't mind the thought of waking through the night for feeds again, at least I'll hopefully sleep in between!!

It's the being in agony, struggling to turn, bones clicking, severe heartburn, sick, being booted all night that's the pain and reason for this post 😁

The best (two hours) sleep I ever had was the night after I'd given birth. Even after all that trauma I was sooooo much more comfortable than when I was pregnant. The relief!!

AdmiralSirArchibald · 15/09/2017 08:08

I think I woke up every morning thinking gleefully "I'm not pregnant!" For about 3 months after DD2. Baby broken sleep was nothing in comparison to the non-sleep and pain of pregnancy

asongforthelovers · 15/09/2017 08:09

Sounds absolutely bliss!! can't wait to not visit the bathroom 50 times a night either. Ha!

The best nights sleep i had in months was the first night home from the hospital with DS. It might've been in 3 hour chunks, but those 3 hours were amazing!

Currently 36 weeks with DC2 and yep I feel your pain. My DS was a great sleeper and even getting up for a night feed wasn't as bad as getting up every couple hours to pee, roll over, readjust the pillow mountain and generally not get much sleep!

Wolfiefan · 15/09/2017 18:27

OP I SWEAR I got more sleep with DD when she was a baby than when I was heavily pg.
no constantly needing to pee. No constant back and hip pain. No Braxton Hicks. Etc etc.
Not long.

asongforthelovers · 15/09/2017 18:56

This pregnancy has been the worst, I don't recall this much pain, toilet visits, insomnia, heartburn.

Hopefully not too long 😏

It's amazing how people love to tell pregnant women that newborn babies don't sleep through the night, as if nobody had ever heard this startling little-known fact before.

Good luck OP! I'm 37 weeks too and feeling equally fed up with all the aches and pains at night

asongforthelovers · 15/09/2017 21:51

Aha, I know @krakentoast Hmm

We're nearly there, hallelujah. I am fully expecting to go late so maybe best waiting to get my hopes up for a pain free night 🙈
