Double stroller or buggy board?

Hi

DS just turned 2 and i'm expecting DC2 in six weeks. I'm wondering if I need to get a double stroller or can I use a buggy board?
He's not very good with walking- wouldn't try that yet.
Which would you recommend and why??
I live in London, no car but do use public transport fairly often. I'm on the ground floor so no carrying stuff up stairs!

I'd appreciate any recommendations.

TIA!

Does your DS wriggle out of the buggy yet? If so I would reccomend a buggy board. We use a silver cross pioneer buggy. DS2 (1) sits inside while DS 1 (3) stands on the back of the basket like a buggy board or walks. It works very well

we decided to wait and see how things were when baby arrived (2 year age gap to the week) Found I used a carrier for baby and then Ds1 has the pushchair for a bit but he walks really well so didn't really need it. About 2 months in I bought a double stroller but mainly for occasions such as holidays, but sometimes so I could actually get some exercise and walk quite far with them both . But day to day my eldest just walks.

Definitely double. I was in the 'wait and see' camp, 19 month age gap. So much easier when out with them on my own. And for days out.

We had a buggy board, it worked well. My ds was 2 and 3 months and it encouraged him to walk more (he'd also just dropped his nap Angry) Both DC enjoyed facing each other - it was ages until I turned DD to front facing.

There were only a couple of times after very long days out that DS fell asleep while on the buggy board - but I managed to keep him upright!

Some places will let you try out a board in store - definitely worth it, it will change the handling of your buggy and not all buggies and boards are made equal!

A friend had problems manoeuvring her double buggy, one tipped over and another was really wide. She ended up getting two single buggies.

I have both. I got a buggy board for £20 2nd hand and a double buggy. Same age gap as you. Found double buggy good for when dd2 was first born because dd2 was still very slow at walking. She's a bit bette now but can jump on and off the buggy board. Still use double buggy sometimes and dd1 is 2.9. She can sleep in it as well. Depends if your pram from dc1 is still ok.

Definitely recommend a buggy board 1st because if it doesn't work for you it's far cheaper to bin (or store away or donate etc)

Dw and I got carried away shopping for dd before she was even born and we regret getting a double buggy since our plans have changed and dd (12m) may be too big/mobile when we eventually have dc2.

Double buggy! 2 is so little, and a new baby can sometimes make them become even more little! Plus you'll have loads of gear to lug about. Little legs ache on buggy boards, get a double, not an umbrella fold. You can always sell it.

It depends in whether you think the nap will go in the next few months and even then, whether you're likely to be out and about during nap time. We weren't, we tended to plan trips before or after it, so a double buggy wasn't necessary for a nap area. Then he dropped the nap by 2.5 anyway.

We had a 22 month gap. We got a buggy board and it worked really well. As someone else said, he absolutely loved being able to face into the baby and that was sweet. We got the Lascal Maxi which everyone seems to get.

You can also get a buggy board seat for them to sit down on but we didn't bother with that as out lad was very robust. But if he was a bit wobblier it might have been a good buy.

Tbh double buggies are so bloody expensive that unless you get one seriously discounted, I'd try the buggy board first with any kid 2+.
